does anyone else think that looks like Shftr's (RIP) old bike?  except of course that bike is cleaner than his   Wink

was thinking of him and wingmoma the other day while looking thru old pics of the Cradle of Liberty ride in 2004

That is shifters old bike. Look at the front top of the side cover. There is tape where his cig lighter used to be.

Well if that's his. It's worn out.  Or else he exaggerated how hard he rode it.

Meh, for $800 it looks magnificent IMHO. Parts or fixer-upper, well worth it if the frame is true.

The current seller doesn't know Valkyries.  He calls it a Tourer but it's a Standard with windscreen and soft bags added.

he did use works shocks. but I rode his bike. unless the new owner weighed as much as shfter there is no way he could have used them.
those works shocks were very stiff, even with me weighing 300 I had a hard time keeping from having my kidneys bounced up into the back of my neck when I hit a bump with it.
so I can almost guarantee the new owner took them off for that reason.
I could be wrong, but iv'e ridden that bike on several occasions and worked on it quite a few times. but it sure does look like his old bike.

Rick good to see you on this board

Did Shftr have the cig lighter on the left side under the seat  Dont remember it on the bars.

I surely remember smelling funny tobaccy (well it wasnt exactly a cigarette) and watching him lite up on rides.  That boy could sure ride.

Met up with him and momma at the Midway Diner for breakfast on my way south into Virginia and Tennessee several times

Tragic what happened to him, between the tornado, the floods and his health going down. He was a man of few syllables

.

I guess when you only want $800, you can just post photos of it right out of the barn.  Grin

It's been a long time since then, but when I sold a bunch of my cars (and bikes), I always worked my ass off to make them look as good as they could look.  A couple went for less than $800.

Yes oss. He had the cig lighter on top of the left side cover right next to the seat. Right where the black tape is in the picture.

I had thought it was just in front of the fuel turn off where that hole is  but you could be right as you saw the bike more than me

Did he have 2? What went in that stainless steel cover?

Not sure what ss cover your refering to. If your talking about the hole in the engine hanger on the left side. I think that hole is normal. I'm pretty sure the windshield was replaced to.

I didn't know the man.
However, clues I see,
did he have the tassels on the levers?,
tool bag on front?
Psychic unicorn lettering on rear fender?,
emblem on side cover?

No. None of that was there when shfter owned it. I assume the second owner added all that. Including the stereo with the speakers on the handle bars.
