Bald River Falls

Left Sleeping Bear dunes and went up 31 to 119 and tunnel of trees to the Mackinaw bridge. Sat on the bridge for over an hour in traffic and it was 95 out,, but oh well, at least the view was good. This sweet ride never ceases to amaze me.

Arrived at out place of stay at pictured rocks at 4 pm. After my gps routed me down a dirt and sand road for 3 miles. Did not bother me because I grew up riding gravel, but my wife freaked out. Anyway we made it to out place at Munising. Nice place. Spoke to the owner and he might have me do some IT work in trade for some stay time.

went out to dinner promptly and a place called the Bear Trap. Great food. Fresh walleye.

On the way back to our place of stay, I saw a sign that said it was a scenic view so we took it since we had 2 hours of daylight left. Here is what we saw.

I was going to write something philosophical when I got back like Bruce does,, but I cannot hold a candle to him. Besides its hard to concentrate when you got a beautiful woman with you. So I gave up and put my attentions there.

Next morn we decided to take a  2 hour cruise on lake Superior.
Wow,, great decision.

Here is a light house on Grand Island built during the civil war.

After the cruise we left out for Calumet MI where we will spend a couple of nights.
Arriving there we went to downtown Calumet. Tons of history here with many old buildings in excellent shape. Went to a bar that is original from 1902. This place was so cool inside. Food was great as I had fish and chips and a local brewed oatmeal stout.

Next time I post will be from Copper Harbor.
Yawning as I post, bedtime. Cyall later.

My wife and I stayed in Munising 2 years ago, took some of those same pics. I have that one scenic lookout pic blown up in my man-room.

Thanks for making me feel like I was there again.  cooldude

There’s some nice walks and waterfalls there as well.

Great report! Fab pics!!! I have to agree with Rob... philosophy is second choice, a beautiful lady is definitely first! Mostly what I do is settle for the consolation prize, though... sigh...

Looks and sounds like  you're taking full advantage of your time on this ride...more fabulous pictures. cooldude  My favorite rides are with the Mrs...just the two of us. We  go our own speed, stop when we want, and we both enjoy the same  things so visiting places along the way and taking in the local sights and activities is  a big part of our rides.

I recall two years ago on my first ride across that bridge...I had a hard time concentrating on what was ahead as I kept looking out  to enjoy the view....at least you didn't have that issue.. Wink

I rode in that neck of the woods in July '17, going over the top to central Michigan from Minnesota, then back again.  That was the first time I have ever crossed the bridge on a bike.  I enjoyed the beautiful country even thought my destination was a family funeral.  Thanks for posting this...

The upper peninsula is like going back in time and along with it's splendid forested beauty, the locals are friendly and laid back.  I did read an article in the Detroit Free Press a couple weeks back that the locals in Munising are getting irritated with the huge increase in tourism due to the pictured rocks ( which I also have seen ).         Hard to beat the taste of walleye, however the perch up their is excellent and the lake superior whitefish is also.
