It was certainly a meaningless act.  I'm not sure it qualifies for Dumb and Dumber.  He did not place himself at any risk.  If he had lived up to the image he wanted to present he would have jumped down to slap the hippo on even ground.

As we all know a porcupine can shoot its quills for some distance when threatened.  Grin

At age 14 that's what I knew. WE DON'T HAVE PORCUPINES IN ENGLAND.

Twycross Zoo on a school field trip.

The porcupine enclosure is a sunken pit sans fencing.

I, so brave, jumped down into the enclosure and picked up 3 discarded quills and smartly jumped back up out of the enclosure with no quills being fired at me.  Cheesy

It wasn't until Nov 1993 that I saw my next porcupine on the road up Mt Greylock, MA

I did not try to take any of its quills. In fact the poor bugger looked rather cold, infirm and old.

DUMBER..........  the POLICE investigation perhaps ?

Perhaps the really dumber people are the supposed experts claiming psychological damage to the hippo from being slapped on the butt (Interesting they claim no psych damage from its being confined to a small space.)

I don't hold that it makes it right for a person to violate the fence and mess with the zoo animals but there's plenty of dumb to go around.
