been 48 years and never seen a rainy day like this that I can recall. About 10 inches total of rain today and finally coming to an end. Drove home had to backtrack twice roads flooded over 45 minutes normally took 1 1/2 hours. Man oh man, what torential rain we had at times even hwy. 14 main hwy near Cross Plains WI and major 18/151 around Mount Horeb area closed due to flooding/car issues, etc..
Some places I saw had 2 feet of water going across the roads and saw several stalled cars needing towing. Creek crossings with small bridges on rural county roads became fast moving rivers ACROSS the county roads did not attempt to plow thru one turned around with the truck. Water spraying over the truck 7+ feet high at times just lucky not much hydroplaning.
house sump pump running every 15 seconds nearly non stop.

My cage sits bout 60' from my front door. Couple times yesterday-fortunately AFTER my ride-the rain was comin down so frikkin hard all I saw was a dull gold glow where I KNEW my cage was parked. My casa sits on the top of what some would call a hill. Never saw our inch totals but were a fair bit jist guessin. AND with the metal roof wuz kinda like sittin in a base drum. RIDE SAFE.

Just drove from Necedah to Racine yesterday during that rain, on I-90 & 94, North of Madison to Racine via Hwy 83, Burlington for dinner, & 20. Real frog choker. Was expecting to get stopped from accidents but it didn't happen. Traffic was really moving given the weather - doing 75 or so and down to 55 on the slabs. Crossed over I-94 on Cnty C and northbound to Milwaukee was stopped. Glad I had just refreshed the Rain-X on the new 4Runner.

Just saw it on TV you guys got too much rain 11 plus. WOW.
when all said and done parts of the area near me (NW) got 14 inches (correction just updated 16 inches in some spots) of rain (most 9-11 inches) in ONLY say about 7 to 8 hours of constant torential rain, NEVER EVER have seen rain coming down that long and that hard for that short of a time and probably never will ever again in my life. Middleton WI where wife works only 3 miles up the road from where I work entire parking lot 1-2 feet of standing water unable to go into work today (road blocked off in front all over) and also tomorrow and that building is ACROSS the marsh on the other side of the road. Wife is happy NO WORK why can't I be that lucky??? The big hotel and Costco in Middleton right by where my wife works also was closed and people were unable to leave either the hotel or Costco last night having to spend the night there right. Some cars were almost totally under water up to the roofs talk about your flood damage... Sad note one 70 year old drowned in Madison when got stuck and flipped car over into a culvert drainage ditch. A bystander pulled 2 of the 3 out of the car but the driver was not so lucky they found him after 13 hours of searching today 1/3 mile downstream... Just saw on news that the bystander had a hold of the driver by his hands but one step further into the swift creek current he would have been a goner as well he said and was crying on the news knowing full well he had a chance to save a 3rd life and he slipped thru his fingers having to let go. About 1/2 of Cross Plains and some of town of Mazomanie is blocked off and evacuated as well. It is heading downstream into where I live since the creeks and small rivers flow downstream into Green County from Dane County and if Paoli WI is flooded I will not make it into work tomorrow either.. Several hundreds of cars flooded and stalled all over the say 20 miles radius the 11+ inches came down all at once NON STOP!!!!!!!!! Amazing what mother nature can do in just a few hours and to think it is just rain and not say Seattle WA, etc. where rain is more constant...

most roads are back open in and around Madison as of today, except hwy. 69 from Paoli to Verona and for sure hwy. 14 around Cross Plains area is closed bridge washed out and road tore up badly. Mazo and Cross Plain and Middleton (far west side of Madison) got hammered big time. Wife is going back to work tomorrow Deming Way in Middleton subsided the water levels enough to drive on it. Man oh man, it was a very dangerous night for sure with reports of the same road I was on about a few hours later on having 2 boats rescue a guy trapped in one of the 2 cars that drifted off the road into farmers field and was gasping for air with river rising barely got rescued in time trapped in his car. Good samaritans all around indeed!

national disaster time all around WI....
Rain, rain, go away and never come back ever to over 2-3 inch rainfalls...

Some places in Hawaii got 60 inches or a bit more! 5 feet of water! I KNOW it don't make yer situation any easier but 5 Feet of water? Well until the water Completely subsides BE CAREFUL. We have a bridge on the business rt 63 here in Willow Springs that got damaged in the floods of 16. Frikkin bridge ain't been repaired yet! BUT I duz give MODOT credit where credit is due-The US Highways here bouts were ready to go A S A P after the floods. World of Commerce doncha know. RIDE SAFE.
