I don't think I ever saw one of these Canadian models.

Interesting, were the Canadian models detuned? Mine was clocked at 146 MPH by the Florida Highway Patrol and there was more twist left on the throttle. I did have the limiter removed and it was ported, but that speed was scary enough on that top heavy, no brakes, center plug fouling death wish. It was probably good the center plug was always fouled or I might not be writing this. Grin

The kaw 500 triple weren't a slouch either. Both those machines were scary stupid fast. Closest I've come to that punch/launch/leave was the blower bike I got to ride at I-14 in Asheville. That golden yellow color looks Sweet!  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

In 1973 and 1974 3 of us rode to Daytona bike week. One of us (Wayne) rode one of these from Chattanooga to Daytona and back. The only issue he had was the 99 mile fuel range from full to total empty at highway speeds.

Wayne owned and rode the bike for several years, never had any issues with it and yes it was quick and thirsty.

I had one in the late 70's.
Sometimes it would start backwards.
Even 2 up, it was amazing.
I was riding my '71 750 in New Mexico and there was a big blue cloud up ahead.
I blew by him. Then he really blew by me.
By the time I caught him he was on the side of the road with a smoke already drawing good.
It was a 750 triple.

Had a 500, orange,  then the 750, blue, then moved on to the 900, root beer with an orange pin stripe. Seats were like a board. Back then we didn't have much of an inkling about comfort, just speed. All would scare the shyt out of you.

I do remember if you didn't launch just right from a dead stop it would git ugly from the git go. And that Scream they had at W F O throttle. Question for the fast guys here from yesteryear. Would this fast monster from the 70s gain anything with todays technology but still as a 750CC triple? I know brakes tires and wheels and frame tech would gain. More interested in would the base power plant gain H P and Torque and could/would fuel mileage be made a tad bit better? Curious minds and likea dat! RIDE SAFE.

I would think so:
Water or fluid cool, better engineered expansion chambers, direct fuel injection, better ignition systems, all would make it a true MONSTER.

That motor on all 3, 500, 750, 900 ran the way they were. I'm sure with EFI, different porting and new exhaust things would change?? For the better, I'm not sure??  I never had the desire to change anything just by the way they all ran. It ate ( with the 750) most anything on the road. Most of my buddies had 750 Honda's and they learned quick not to screw with the 750.  Mine all were stock (especially the 750)  and probably the fastest bike I've ever been on. 130 MPH was nothing but a scary ride. The front end would start to get light at 120. The 500 ran as well. But my 900 was an exceptional bike. It just hauled ass!  All 3 were different animals.

At age 21 I bought my first new motorcycle, an H1 500cc Blue Kawasaki.    Rode it from  Houston to the Grand Canyon.  Great bike.  I was wild and crazy and had a motorcycle to match....ha.  Shortly after getting back from the Grand Canyon it got stolen....never to be found.
