Everything you say has something to do with Trump. It gets old, let it go. You are joining the ranks of strongeagle. If you don't know who that is I'm sure someone will let you know.

While I concur that Mr. Sharpton is an embarrassment to all he claims to support, but term limits for what? He's never held public office...

(And I also agree we need term limits, but that's another discussion.)

There's lots more where that came from. And things are just starting to get warm.

We still hear about Obama and Clinton all the time, usually prefaced with 'what about' or 'butbutbut', so I figure there's plenty of room yet.

I think your right. There has been so much politics of division that it will probably take a couple of generations of voters to pass before we see the country pulling together. This, barring some catastrophic event that binds us together again.

Babylon 5 is superior to Star Trek in every conceivable way.

Most likely the total financial failure of our financial system due to all the give away social programs.    We'll be lucky if we all don't have to learn Chinese.

Would be happy to see it all go away.  If it wasn't earned or paid into, it doesn't get paid.

Hopefully, all welfare will be cut off and a flat rate tax system put into place so everyone pays the same percentage.    No one should get a free ride, corporations, families or individuals.    No one should get free healthcare, phones, cars, food.............

Who promised anyone a rose garden?

Everyone has their own load to pull.   We've taught generations to suck off the government tit.   Some folks will either go hungry or figure out how to pull their share of the load.
I don't pretend to have all the answers but, I do know that we can't stay on the path we are on.

The vast majority of so-called "corporate welfare" is just reduced theft from corporations. I don't think reducing the amount of money stolen from a company can be compared to actual theft, er, welfare, but if you can find any actual "corporate welfare", where stolen money in the government's possession is given to companies, then I'm all in favor of reducing or eliminating it.

I'm curious how you feel our government should be funded if not with taxation ?

The VAST majority of government we currently have shouldn't be funded. End it. Starve the beast. Shut down 95% of the government. Permanently.

Yes, I'd be looking for a new job in this situation, and I accept that. I even accept that I'm a hypocrite since I work for a federal agency that I would love to see abolished.

But there we are...

For the remaining legit VERY limited needs of a constitutional federal government, here are a few options:

Which 5% would you propose keeping ?

4% to military (One of the few actual duties of the federal government spelled out in the constitution) and 1% to "Other"

Starve the cursed beast.

We are $21,000,000,000,000 in debt. This can not be sustained.

I think funding the government by gambling lotteries and voluntary taxes is a little naive. But who knows, it's never been tried in history that I know of.

Before 1861 income tax didnt exist. When Abe decided he needed money to fund the civil war against the south. How did it run before that?
