saw yet another low mileage 97 Valkyrie good deal.  Do I really need 6 cycles (3 Valks) in my garage when there is only 7 days per week to ride them?   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I know a few of you have 3 Valkyries, but do you really get them all out on a regular basis to keep them from gumming up?  4 total would be mine and 2 for my kid.....  so not all mine.

I have trouble riding two enough for their good health.

I just like the supervalk more than the trunk bike.  (100K vs 60K)

I had 5 (one the wife's).  It was stupid.

Two is good.

If I had local trails I might get a dirt bike again, but I don't have local trails.

Many women are fantastic.  Still, one wife is plenty.

I think that would fall into the category of idiocy vs. the category of addiction.

I am going to go look at it probably later this week since only 4K and only 15K miles on it, but is black being a tourer converted into an Interstate with top trunk with batwing fairing/radio.  I already have a black true Interstate so besides the batwing fairing/radio,  looks exactly the same almost.  Not sure I need 2 near identical cycles one with 40K miles, one with 15K miles.  Him being 3rd owner said it needed a tuneup, etc.  (one odd thing is NEW clutch which is odd with only 15K miles on it) at local honda dealer so maybe I will also call that dealer up to see what was done if the guy does not show me the repair/service bill.   Also, why the need for new front brake with only 15K miles??  I wonder if 115K miles, will see I guess?  since as you all know,  115K vs. 15K is sometimes hard to tell on our bikes.

Well, look at Jay Leno. He has more cars than you can shake a stick at. If it’s a good buy and you can store it, why not. Turn it or one of them into a reserve bike, one you can work on, get into excellent condition and use it when necessary. If it’s not a feasible option then let it pass, I’m sure the will be other ones down the road you may be able to pick up.

I'm happy with one.  That way I can pamper and spoil her without her sister getting jealous.

I'm not getting enough time on the bikes I have so they are getting neglected.  Marty - OK it's stored as a parts bike though it has the lowest miles, it's virtually stock so it doesn't have the comfort etc mods the others do and I don't plan to ride it.  Deerslayer is getting neglected though I keep it insured and licensed.  George (bobber) doesn't get enough rides, and I only ride him locally.  BlewByU (02 wing) isn't registered or insured and I think about selling it.  Jade gets ridden regularly.

I can't imagine getting more bikes.  I don't have room to store them either, though they are all under roofs - that pushes the cars outside except when hail is coming then I have to clear the south bay in the garage where the big Snap-On bike lift is so at least one car is protected. So Jade who is usually stored on the lift, goes in the bike barn.  Told the wife, the cars take turns for hail protection now that we both have nice cars.  Need another building but the wife wants to sink retirement money into a big deck expansion.  I'd like to have a KLR but realistically I have too many toys now.  And better manage the $ so that lasts as long as we do.

Many here care for these bikes way more than non valk folk that get their hands on one through some strange circumstance, and leave them to rot.  Go get it!  tickedoff  You have a love  smitten for these bikes!  cooldude

As I slow down and prioritize, I'm down to 3 bikes, 3 cars and a van. Still too many, and it'll be reduced next year, I think. To have 3 of the same bike makes more sense to me if one is retiring/mothballing one to acquire ride a better example of it. It's easy to prep one for storage and protect it, and better than keeping it ready for use, unless you have the resources and employee(s) like a Jay Leno.

agree,  never heard of clutch being repaired at 15K miles even if 21 years old, but anything is possible I guess?  new front brake calipers and pads as well?  Dealer should have fixed the rear foot brake pedal as well was sticking not going up/down when pushed down on it and was dragging could tell.  Yet another reason not to trust some dealers since you would think a quick test drive to make sure the front brake works to test and inspect the rear brake as well, guess not?

was rusted pretty badly all over as well with chips out of fenders, etc. and tons of bigger scratches all over mostly hard side bags.  minor scratches I could deal with but that long and thick thru the black paint is very ugly.  He listed it as 'excellent' condition I would say ''fair' at best considering 15K miles is all even if 21 years old.  Amazes me how some people can let a cycle or other objects get so bad in so little use.

I did not want to insult him offering 2500 so left and thanked him for his time.  If he gets his asking price more power to him.

I think in the end you dodged the bullet.

When it comes to Valkyries, the engine is pretty much bullet proof. My only concern with higher mileage bikes would be the final drive.

and lower mileage bikes not running right since carbs all gummed up.  This 97 did seem lathargic to me as compared to my 98 and 2001 Valk.
