We rolled into Hickory , NC on Thursday . Duke Power has us parked at a fair ground with a wait and see where we are needed. Maybe tomorrow , maybe not they don't want us pulling out here for the coast and then get damage here they claim its moving through here tonight and in the morning ( Friday / Saturday ) . We have millions on dollars worth of equipment and close to half our workforce sitting here … Waiting On The Word.

First picture is what I'm hauling that thing will climb a tree or just run over it.

Equipment belongs to the company I work for .. Tennessee Valley Authority ( TVA ) we are the largest power provider in the nation serving 800 million.

Just for the record, I started my first real civilian job at Florida Power Corporation in 1973 (CR #3)  I stood watch in the control room for several months with a gentlemen who was a lineman, before he joined our shift as a control board operator.

Working shift work with the same crew, you get to know the people on your shift and he really impressed me.  He was always prepared, he was purposeful, safety was always in his mind, and he enjoyed conversation.

My hats off to you and your brothers and sisters out there.  Not many folks know what you guys do to keep the power on and what it takes to bring it back.

Be safe.
