I've just done a 2500 mile road trip from the UK to Austria and on the way back we had an overnight stop at a hotel in France.

I woke up at just before 1 am to use the toilet and had a quick look out the window.

I spotted this guy walking down the road, wearing a helmet talking to someone on an intercom.

He stopped at the locked carpark gates and came through the pedestrian gate, and headed straight for my Valk.

Now, as mine was the only bike in the parking lot, I knew something was not right.

I pulled some clothes on and hotfooted it down the stairs. When I got near the bottom, all the automatic lights came on in the lobby.

By the time I had got through the two doors the guy was already back on the road.

I waited around, out of sight, and 10 minutes later I heard a bike start up nearby.

Sure enough, two guys came riding slowly past the hotel have a good look in the Valks direction.

I waited some more, then a while later I heard the same bike approaching. I ran to the edge of the parking lot and let them know I was watching.

That was the last I saw of them, didn't sleep all night but I'm so glad my Valkyrie wasn't tampered with.

There's no way would they have been able to take it, as when on my annual road trip I always have good security, two disc locks (one alarmed), steering lock and a 130db quite sensitive alarm.

It's just the thought of some low life wanted to take my pride and joy away.

I think I may have used one of those disc locks to rearrange a frog’s face for messing with my ride,

Glad all they were able to steal was a look and a dream...

I guess there are a few advantages to being stateside where the monetary value of a Valk is so low most wouldn't bother to steal one.....

Had the Valkyrie on a trailer behind the car in a Holiday Inn Express outside Cincinnati one night and came down in the morning to find a LEO's business card on my windshield saying that he checked out my 6 cylinder m/c at 3:00 AM.
