I love that Interstate, my favorite color even though I have never seen one in person.

I have family in the Springs and Greeley and been on that route many times, I never fail to find scenery and places more awesome every trip. Beautiful country, (as long as we stay out of the tourist traps) Grin

Yeah, it's a bit easier to stay out of the trap$ when you live here!  The tourists and gawkers were pretty thick, ahd stole our joy in some of the twisties.  I hope our highways don't become the next tourist "trap", but I'm afraid we're gonna just have to get used to it.  The local tourism bureau used to advertise my neck of the woods as, "The Great Unknown".  That sure isn't the case anymore.

Bonnie and I did that ride with the (now dead ) VOAi in 2005 starting in Montrose and took

550 back up from Durango

Pretty sure the 1st pic is up the grade to Dallas Divide before even getting to Telluride but it has been a good while  Do you recognize whether the 2nd pic is below or north of Silverton?

Awesome country, thanks for the ride report and pics

I think it's below Silverton going toward Ouray, but I wouldn't bet the ranch on it. Mike might chime in with a more definitive answer.
