Many of you probably know or have heard of Lamont. He was involved in the beginings of the VRCC and I remember seeing him a couple of years ago at an Inzane. The following was posted on another board that I frequent, it's an update from his wife, Joan.

"Here's the update from Joan.
Last week we hosted our event Spyders in the Ozarks. Lamont knocked himself out for weeks getting ready. As some of you know he got very sick Friday evening at the pie run and was sick at home ever since. He had a high fever from then until Monday or Tuesday. I kept begging and pleading to let me take him to the hospital. No. He had 3 appointments within 24 hours and the surgeon gave us news I wasn’t ready to hear. Supposedly he had a clear ultrasound in July. Now he was recommending a liver transplant instead of zapping the potential cancerous lesions. How did we get here? Last week this wasn’t even a consideration. I’m in shock. He was scheduled to have more tests run yesterday. He couldn’t keep anything down. But he could hardly get in the car. So I took him to the ER. So far we got acute renal failure, his kidneys were starting to shut down. His lipase level was nearly 3000. His liver and kidney labs are not good. He has pancreatitis. They are treating him with massive IV fluids for dehydration and no food or drink for the pancreatitis. He’s on heavy morphine for the pain and sleeping mostly. He’s in and out. I am going to have to make a more general post. I cannot keep up with two phones of texts and messages. I don’t want anyone bothering him although I know they mean well. Lamont has 3 sons, a sister and mother and I’m updating them as they are anxious. The only thing I ask is understanding. We still have a business to run and Jacob is handling it. Lamont and I will not be available 24/7 for questions etc as we have been in the past. We need time. We need prayer. We need compassion. We don’t have answers. We have to get him out of this crisis. Neither of us is from here so we have no family here in Missouri. It’s just us".

This is a moment for any local VRCC'ers  to rally round and get in touch with Mrs B to ask how they can help.

He was one of the driving forces that created the VRCC...positivity from the desert SW.
Met him at the first InZane and then again at a gathering in Asheville NC in 2003...

LaMont is VRCC 001

That's as close to being here in the beginning that you can get. I am very sorry to hear this, he is a great guy and all of us in the VRCC owe him a great deal of thanks for his efforts in the forming of this club.
He will be in my prayers. Thanks for letting us know.

Lamont will be in our prayers as well, as others have said he was VRCC 001 and was one of the driving forces in the VRCC and the M109 group and then the Spyder group.

Praying in Florida. Lamont was always a live large kinda guy.  Hard to hear of his situation now. I pray they can sort it out soon.

Met Lamont at Inzane 1...and at numerous spots riding back to Colorado after the rally.

He is a legend here at the VRCC.  I wish him well and relief from his suffering.

Prayers to him and his family.

Very sad to hear this. I was able to attend a Valkyrie get together at his home in Tennessee. A most excellent host and a real pioneer in the early days of Valkyrie modifications. People who know him will all want to help but our best resource and his will be prayer.

I remember the first time I saw the TV show American Chopper and saw Paul Sr and thought he reminded me of Lamont, except Paul had a pissy attitude.  Here's a video where his blown Valk makes an appearance.

Jeff,

Yep... LaMonster was indeed a live large kinda guy! An amazing character, and one who contributed greatly to the early development and evolution of the Valk community. I share your hope for the best for him and his... and I also have my fingers crossed for this to be sorted out...

An update was posted last night by Joan.

"Update. Out of respect to his 3 sons and his mother and sister I am keeping updates close. I don’t want rumors and half truths hurting his immediate family. I can tell you he slept day and night all weekend. He’s heavily sedated. His numbers are going the right way".

I recall the first time I chatted with him, was years ago during Bike Week in Daytona. Don't believe his bike was on display officially, was just sitting there in front of a vendor at the mall in south Daytona but was drawing quite a crowd at times. It was the yellow one shown in the pic above, except I seem to remember he had a couple NOS bottles hanging on it back by the shocks. Had a nice chat for quite some time, very congenial, he commented about a couple of his items I had on my bike. I then asked about his exhaust so he obliged by starting the bike....you could feel the power in that sound. It's tough to hear what's happened recently and the stress it places on the family. Here's hoping and praying the numbers continue to move in the right direction.

Met him at Biketoberfest one year, nice guy and a icon in the world of Valks and the VRCC.

He was blasting down the road in Daytona, heading into the Honda shop, on that beautiful yellow machine.

And yeah John, I think I remember he had the nitrous bottles mounted near the rear shocks.
