Charlie passed away.   Cry

Charlie spoke with me just last week after my crash.    With all his woes he was still concerned about me.   Charlie was my friend, we spoke often.    He told me of his decision early on to not fight cancer again.   He was a brave soul and will be missed.   Rest in Peace Charlie.

RIP Brother.

You faced the end with a dignity, determination and grace that we should all aspire to. I am so happy to hear that he got to go on his final ride the day before and indulge his passion one more time, that of helping others.

Godspeed to a very good man, enjoy your rest and peace. (Not to mention all the great roads there has to be in heaven.)

My condolences to his family and loved ones as well.

These old bodies can only take so much and Charlie did his part in the fight. Hope if ever faced with a similar situation I can handle it as well as he did. We lost a good one.

Charlie,
Sorry we weren't able to make the Pagosa Springs meet that we planned.  You should land on that piece of heaven in the high country and enjoy eternity in the quakies.  Thank you for your wise counsel.     Rest well, sir. angel

God took another good one.

What a great guy, and what a loss for his family and friends.  His courage and dignity the last few months should serve as a guide for us all.

This pic is from 2014 when Charlie and his grandson led us on a little 420 mile excursion on some of his favorite roads from IZ XIV ground zero in Asheville up into Virginia and back.  We had a great day.

From L to R is me, HayHauler, Brew1Brew, grandson, Charlie, and Marcus.

BTW, Brew1Brew did not shy away from riding his new 1800 Valkyrie on any of the unpaved roads Charlie took us on!

Just looked and I had a PM from Charlie dated Sept.26 five days later he was gone  Cry

He was wanting to make The Fall Color Ride this year. You never know folks when the end of days is on us.   Rest In Peace my friend.

Below copy / paste from a PM Charlie sent.

Joe,

I still have a faint hope in coming your way but please hold nothing.  I have a tough warden who is called Tawna. If I can dot all the i's and cross all the T's she will let me go but has reservation. I have to trust her because I know she loves me.

They have made a huge change to my meds in order to get me more energy in my life. This trip that I am doing to Houston will be the baseline for any others. It's a tough one.

Jimmy = Hayhauler wants to try. her concerns are the two days of driving. Jimmy is willing to pilot the "Hoopty" and I think a leisurely ride on the Cherahola would be perfect. but my warden is tough. Have to do this trip first.

For me it's time after the ride that makes this so special. the tire kicking and great stories of the other riders. listening to you the great entertainer. Just thinking that Jimmy is willing to sacrifice his time like this is unbelievable.

I'll stay in touch.

Your friend,

Charlie Morse

That’s special right there, wish he had of been given just a little more time, won’t we all? It seems to me he didn’t waste any of the time he was given and cherished it all.

Thanks for posting ..  Put tears in my eyes. Charlie was a good man.
I took this picture soon after Charlie crashed his Goldwing and went to riding a Ural with sidecar. He had actually lost weight in this picture as stated above Charlie was a big man so sad to see him as the cancer slowly killed him.
