yep, sometimes deer are unavoidable even trying your best to avoid them is impossible not enough time to react and swerve to avoid those forest rats.    Police say to just hit the deer, but I try to swerve to avoid them if at all possibly safe to do so without hitting another vehicle or running off the road entirely.    Reason why I try to swerve to avoid is insurance rates went up 14% on me filing a comprehensive claim on all 4 vehicles hitting a deer in March unavoidable me swerving to avoid major damage but never went off the road entirely.  This was even after Progressive insurance agent rep told me deer collisions do not only go against me since not my fault but rates should not go up either.  He lied! tickedoff

Took scooter out now twice AFTER dark the past month and both times out a bambi ran alongside me until he decided to cross 20 yards in front of me coming into town doing 30 mph, the 2nd time a huge buck ran crossing FAST right in front of me as well just lucky I was driving slower like 45 mph even then timing is everything there would have been no way to avoid the deer bolting out in front of me at just the right timing.

As a former cyclist, You need to be informed that cyclists have as much right on the road as any other vehicle. It is the following vehicles responsibility to pass safely and not in the same lane if you have 4 wheels. On an MC, you can pass in the same lane.

Were you perchance at I-14? Asheville N C-a group ride on the B R P encountered bicycles from the shoulder to the center line and they REFUSED to move. No-we did NOT shoot anyone. RIDE SAFE.

Here in the country roads NW of Houston the bicycle riders have gotten to where if there 4 or more of them they don't get to the side but take up the entire lane even on busy roads.    They know you can't do anything.  Amazes me more don't get run over than the ones that do .

I'll add that it's the law for slower vehicles to keep right and cyclists are suppose to remain in single file. I understand the frustration. They CAN be ticketed for not obeying these laws. Next time call the local police and report the traffic obstruction.

I live off a 7 mile stretch of 2 lane, double yellow lined paved road. In MI, there's a law stating a requirement to allow 3' of space passing a bicycle, effectively making it illegal to pass. Anybody want to follow a pack of holier-than-thou lane hogs for 7 miles?
