Don't get excited, she's looked like that since 2000.

(Her fellow justices are too polite to throw things at her to wake her up in oral hearings.)

Good clerks are the key here.

Its kinda surprising she doesn't retire, apparently she has no other interests. She had to be reminded the other day what the 14th amendment said.

Maybe Republicans will have to start yelling, "Impeach" and declaring her unfit. Seriously, pretty sure they check her breath with a mirror every day and help her to the "special chair" with Velcro on the seat. Oss nailed it-she's just like McCain. Far past the "best if used by" date.

Geez guys, hope my wife doesn't feel that way about me. Just the other day she told me I need to clean out my drawers and get rid of anything I hadn't used in the last year or so. Woman really scared me for a minute until I realized she was talking about my stash drawers out in the shop.  laugh

As for Ginsburg, they need to pull a prank on her sometime. Wait until she falls asleep in her chair again, then turn out the lights and everyone leave the room. If there's a wall clock available, make sure it's turned ahead a few hours. Probably should have a signed DNR form just in case!  Grin

there are also pics out there of her wearing gloves all of the time. most likely to to hide all of the bruising from all of the injections, and/or intravenous procedures to keep her alive. I believe she is very sick.

While I admire her determination,  I am not sure how effective she is in her position a person in her condition is not going to decide things in the same way a younger healthier person would. If she cannot stay awake then the fact that she cannot speaks of the lack of personal integrity and respect to a very important position to relinquish the position to a person who could fully fulfill the requirements of the job. An airline pilot cannot be a pilot with certain health issues, how much more one deciding issues that can put the fate of a nation in jeopardy.

Its not an issue of money, its not an issue of health care so really what is it an issue of?

That's an easy question.  She fills a spot that would not be filled by an acceptable to her replacement.  She must be waiting for a democrat president with a democrat controlled Senate.  She may have made a big mistake counting on a victory for Hillary Clinton.

You know I've just read all of the comments here about Ginsburg.

I dislike her attitude and thinking. I disliked how she went after Trump, that shouldn't be done by a Supreme Court Justice.

However, she has served all of these years and when you make snide remarks about "Bernies", taxidermists, injections and gloves to cover up injections, you all are making fun of her old age AND all seniors.

My hands bruise very easily, I tend to nod off, I have new and different sh** happening to me each day and All of you will eventually experience the same.

So, in my view, yes, we don't like her and she should make the decision to leave but let's not make fun of her old age because you are making fun of all of us like me in my 90's.

My .02 take it or leave it.

I despise her as a Justice, but constitutionally she’s a right to stay. There is a process in place to remove her if Congress believes she’s incapable. I wish they would use it.

Wayne, the point of all this was not to make fun of senior citizens at all. It is to point out the reasons she should not be on the Supreme Court. That's all. You are taking this too personal. How could this stuff be pointed out any differently? These problems happen to all of us, however when they do we should retire if it hinders our job. You did.

I based my comments on an old work office friend who was exhibiting bruises, enough that he covered it up, however it was from needle treatments. He died a few yrs later, only in his late 60s.

It's not about making fun of her because she is old.

It's about criticizing her for not being able to do her job, and her not recognizing that fact.

Look at  all of the things that you have given up because you realized that your body wouldn't let you do them any longer.

Shouldn't she be expected to do the same?

C'mon, the "Bernie" comment and the stiffing?  I would say that she seems incapable of making decisions based on her appearance and that's what I'd tell her face to face.

Wayne, I didn't see anything directed at seniors in general but only at Justice Ginsburg.  I hate to see you identify with her as I think you have little, if  anything, in common with her.

Sometimes it looks to others as if we're just looking for an opportinity to be offended.

A brother, contributor, and an all around great guy presented his thoughts and feelings about how this thread was going.

We should acknowledge, apologize, and move on.  Instead people are defending something that has bothered one of us enough that he felt the need to say something.

You deserve better, Wayne.

I agree with Wayne on this one. This is about Justice Ginsburg's abilities as a judge and not her physical appearance or that she has certain conditions that are common in older people and seniors.

Ginsburg's capacity as a Judge has long passed. She has allowed herself to engage in the political process as a partisan hack. She has, as a sitting Supreme Court judge, made disparaging comments against a sitting President. Don't care who you are or what political party you are a part of. I see that as impeachable conduct. Her health issues do have an impact on her ability to serve as well.

She should have retired years ago. If she did, she would have left an honorable legacy. A partisan legacy for sure, but honorable as related to the court.  The longer she hangs on the more her legacy will only serve as the butt of jokes about old folks.

There is one thing Wayne you do not have in common with her, you knew when to give up something  you passionately loved because of physical limitation.

Not being able to control the tendencies she has and to let them out in public is a symptom of a greater internal problem of not being able to control herself either physically or mentally. We have to question what goes on behind closed doors if this is exhibited in public. In playing a game openly and a Supreme court judge I have to say she gets what she deserves. It takes nothing away from her past record but is age an excuse to trash your job? She has done it to herself and invited criticism in her own actions and statements.

You play with the pigs you will get dirty, and if age had anything to do with it she would not have played with the pigs and would not be dirty.

I'm sorry guys (and gals). I've been a little testy as of late.  However, i stick to what I said.

She should be judged (pun not intended) on her capability as a Supreme Court Justice. She has demonstrated by her opinion of President Trump that she is no longer capable of rendering an unbiased opinion based on our constitution.  She is biased and is on record that she is.

I, for one, can associate with the jokes and innuendos connected with aging. I have seen my share of disrespect for seniors.  "Sweetie Pie"' by waitresses, speaking loudly when not needed, rolling the eyes when the senior doesn't pick on quickly spoken words. I gotta admit that "Bernie' was funny but................

I am still blessed with a good mental capability, I guess that I'm just trying to stick up for those that don't.

I may be in the minority here, but I think she answered the question elegantly, with references to previous confirmations and with great wisdom.  There's nothing wrong with her mind and that's why she is on the court.  You may not agree with her politics but that is not a reason to be for her retirement.
