Ya, we've done what we can do. We're not evacuating so hopefully we're far enough from the landfall so we will survive. Cat 5 here in a bit. It's unprecidented. Thanks for thinking of us

Now calling for 14’ of storm surge. With waves on top of that this will be beyond disastrous. Stay safe.

My Dad says winds are kicking ass on the southeast coast as well. He's in Delray Beach, about a mile in-land.

Rain much heavier already in the last few minutes wind gusts are 30 mph or a little over that. We're forcasted to get 60 mph sustained winds with gusts to 75 or so. If that's what we really get we will be just fine. Praying for an accurate forcast for a change.

It's going to be a mess Panhandle friends and family are as ready as can be. I'm concerned with my folks place in Tallahassee. Lots of trees throughout the city and county near structures which gives Tallahassee such a special look. Many trees will come down, lots of damage and power will be out for many days for lots of people. I was in Tallahassee in 1985 and just bought my first house months before Hurricane Kate came thru. I had no power for 7 days and others for 3 weeks. This is going to be stronger winds than Kate. I hope to get to my folks shortly after this passes providing the streets are cleared. Most likely won't get there till Saturday. Prayers helpful.

Winds picking up. Some debris hitting the house now. I'd sY40 mph with gusts over 50 is the worst so far. Power still on so we're doing great so far.

This could be the worst of it the closer it gets now to landfall the farther it gets from us. We may get a taste of the next stronger feeder band but maybe not if it starts moving faster east than north. We shall see, not so bad this far

Glad to hear that you're doing OK. I tried to bring up a webcam for PCB to see what's happening. But, they all seem to be out. The storm must have electricity completely out in the area.

The pictures of damages in Panama City and PCB are coming in. Whole houses off their foundation and rolling down the street. Tough to watch. 9 feet of storm surge.
Just WOW

That video was amazing. Total destruction with a few building still standing. Lots of vacant lots covered with debris. Those must be relatively new buildings constructed under a different building code. Looks more like a tornado went through, a building leveled while a nearby building looks untouched.

Mexico Beach is was an older Florida community largely untouched by the blight of buildings over 4 floors. I think most of the homes were from the 50's/60's.

Those "vacant lots" had homes standing on them 2 days ago.

I'm sure one of the reasons Mexico Beach destruction is so bad is they have no barrier island like lots of other gulf cities. Direct impact to town. The through highway is right on the Gulf beach at much of Mexico Beach. Scott and I stopped for this photo right before he went on to Inzane this year. That's the tip of St. Joe island you can see on the left, we were right at Mexico Beach. Photo location: https://goo.gl/maps/ffKMwUrFCTP2
