It is easy to install, and then uninstall if you don't like it, "Privacy Badger". If you
try it, I'd suggest running it for a week or more... it doesn't depend upon "black lists"
and "white lists", it pays attention to who might be tracking your personal browsing,
and cuts off the trackers... so it's not an ad-blocker exactly, but by blocking the
trackers, there's a lot of ads you won't see...

I used to have a very complex Privoxy setup with a dedicated Linux VM acting as a proxy filtering for the whole house, but it just became too tedious to keep up with it, and have switched to just running the AdBlock Plus extension for Chrome.

It's not perfect, and lots of sites detect for it now and will block you or nag you for running it, so be fore-warned about that. It also crashes periodically and needs to be restarted.

You can work on anti-detection plugins and scripts, but even those aren't foolproof and take more time than their worth IMHO. (Although I do try personally, but I'm a geek like that.)

If you spend much time on Youtube at all, this Chrome extension is a must have - Video Adblocker for Youtube:

Serk....do you recommend these same programs for Mac users or is there something else you might suggest?

If you're using Chrome, the extensions should work for any underlying OS.

Nice thing about Chrome (Or bad, if you're privacy conscious) if you log into your Google account on Chrome, it'll sync your extensions between all your different devices...

If you're using Safari, I'm afraid I have no idea, I don't do Mac stuff...

Ad blocker ultimate, it does not catch everything but catches most.

The old Ad Blocker for Safari doesn’t work anymore but you can get the new one from the Mac App Store.

I have used Wiper for a year or so.  Seems to work and no issues except some sites won't let me read their news content with the ad blocker running.  So, I don't.
