Update....

Had the next blood test today.  Platelets went down a bit.  They were 22K, Now they are 16K.  Normal (im not normal) is 180K or a bit less plus or minus in that area.

So my Dr did a bone marrow biopsy.  Think about that.,  A sample of bone marrow.  This means two needles, one littlish and one a bit larger at the location where you get shots in the butt.  The needle has to get into the pelvic bone deep enough to extract some marrow.  Im just back from the Dr office and the Lidocaine  is starting to wear off.  Thats the PITA I mentioned.  We'll know more in two weeks why the platelets are so low and what (if anything) to do about it.

Good news is, Im riding, working and feeling great with no bad signs or symptoms which perplexes my Dr.  She keeps saying Im not normal.  LOL

Thanks Man!  Being normal is overrated!!  All my training in pain has paid off.  A little bone marrow biopsy is nuthin compared to what I have endured the last few years, granted some has been my own fault, that dont make it hurt less however. LOL

Damn. Made me cringe thinking about a bone marrow biopsy in your pelvis. PITA might be understating a touch. I've had two needle biopsies to date, but neither in bone. Keep fighting the fight! I'll be praying for good health and good news for you.

Jeff,

Youdaman!!! 'Normal' you may not be, but strong and resolute you most definitely are! I'm proud of you for fighting the good fight, but more, for keeping your wits about you and your spirits high! I'm sure it helps the 'Queen' to cope, as well. Anyway, we're all thinking about you and pulling hard for you!!!

That sucks Jeff. My platelets are around 77k. Not as low as yours but my doc says 150k or so is normal. He wants to keep mine above 100k. I have b to have a scan done first of the year. If the scan comes back OK I will likely have to do the same as you. A bone biopsy. Not looking forward to it. This getting old chit is getting old to say the least.....

Well, I dont know your details, and I dont want to say anything about your Dr.  However, everything I have heard and been told is that above 50 is the safe threshold.  Unless you have symptoms like petechiae or blood blisters in the mouth, and easy bruising.  I had all that when I was down to 5 and 8K but near 20K I have no symptoms.  My dr would be happy long term if I was between 20 and 50, closer to 50 the better.

Mark, look up the benifits to platelet production of Papaya Leaf Extract.  I justs ordered some and gonna give it a try!  I figure its natural, I love papaya so what can it hurt, reviews says it has produced increased  platelets.  This what I ordered today.  Scroll down and read the reviews

https://www.amazon.com/Papaya-Extract-Natural-Ounces-Dropper-Top/dp/B00AROFM5C/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1543605908&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=papaya+leaf+extract+for+platelets&psc=1

Jeff,
We might have seen each other at an Inzane but I don’t remember ever talking with you.  However, reading your posts tells me a lot about your strength of character and general outlook on life.  Both are good.

Anyway, just wanted to say I am wishing good things for you.  Many prayers have included you and I will continue to do so.

Thanks for sharing your journey with all of us.  You never know who might benefit from the knowledge of your struggle.  So many of us, men more than women, keep silent about personal struggles and we are all worse off for that practice.  Knowledge is power.

Wishing you the very best.  Would love to shake your hand and share a cold beverage with you some day.

Got an early Christmas present. Results back from the biopsy. No signs of leukemia at all in the bone marrow.  Platelets are still low but we're working on that. The marrow biopsy showed that I am making a normal amount, they are being stolen.  This is very good news.  It rules out any discussion of a bone marrow transplant.

All I need is a few more platelets to stick around and I ll be good for years and years.

So the chemo worked, I've gained back the weight I lost and I need a haircut again.

Thank you Lord.

You all have a great Christmas cooldude

praying for you Chris.

some latest research to look into "deep blood fungus"

https://healthchoicesnow.com/treatments/deep-blood-fungus/
John Parks Trowbridge M.D., FACAM  https://healthchoicesnow.com/about/
Since the fall of 2015, we’ve been able to positively identify specific fungi found in the blood of patients suffering with a wide range of “inexplicable” diseases, such as:

Various cancers, blood cancers, severe skin conditions, sudden kidney failure, sudden worsening of diabetes, MS (multiple sclerosis), ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), RA (rheumatoid arthritis), SLE (lupus), vague immune defense system disorders, and others.
The laboratory performing our tests has confirmed fungus evidence in the plaque blocking heart arteries (our leading cause of death) and in other body organs.

Been awhile. So the good news is That I am still in remission and the bone marrow biopsy did indicate that I am producing platelets at a normal level. The bad news is they are being targeted we think by the spleen still. My dr is sending me to MD Anderson in Houston for evaluation for a splenectomy. It’s just a tricky thing to do a surgery like that with platelets at 18. Will come back and tell how it goes.
