If this was the usual plan, the Detroit Lions would never have a coach.

apparently there was a riff amongst Rodgers and McCarthy, or so they say? Not sure if true or not, but no one will ever find out since Rodgers will not throw McCarthy under the bus, or will he?? Maybe Rodgers overthrew a few throws on purpose that could have been touchdowns??
If true, then Rodgers runs the show, not the coach.
It was a huge mistake getting rid of Montgomery for one bad kickoff return run he did and fumbled late in that one game. Also a huge mistake getting rid of last season or more ago my boy Jordy Nelson, the teams bread and butter clutch player.
The defense has also been hit or miss and IMO from what I saw this season, Clay Matthews is not earning his keep.

Haven't watched a game since Game 2 of last season, (I took a knee, and couldn't get back up) but if Mc Carthy has been the same as he was then, good riddance. He never should have been hired in the first place, and I wanted him gone at least 5-6 years ago because he sucked as a play caller and field general. Never seen a coach who put up with (and sometimes caused) as many wasted timeouts from late play calling and confused players regarding the play. He never pushed to re-write the offensive playbook to take advantage of top QBs. All he had to do is look at the receiver patterns on the teams that confused his defenses and he should have gotten a few new ideas. I have always believed we one that Super Bowl in 2011 DESPITE Mc Carthy, not because of him. Murphy should be packing his bags, also.

I don't think Detroit has had a "coach" for a long time!

Not shedding a tear across the border
I'd think Vikings, Lions, and Bears fans would be upset to lose such a good ally

They have more problems than firing a veteran coach.

That's what I hear. Last I remember, they'd had years of not figuring out how to staff a good team and manage it, other than that... Last season when the coach and general manager joined the SoCal QB in saying they, "supported the (kneeling) players" I figured they'd all be dead by now from breathing their own methane from way up the well. Looks like they're just going to stay light-headed. A pox on their house.
