Well, double dang! I called the doc’s office in Nashville to see if there were any special instructions I needed to follow for the ‘procedure’. I’d been under the misconception I’d receive the actual procedure on December 3. Nope, I’d been set up for an ‘initial visit’, where I’d meet this new to me doctor, discuss options, review test information, etc., and then we’d decide what to do next and schedule all that. I’d been referred to him by my doctor in Montgomery. I should have figured out on my own that an ‘initial visit’ would have to precede any ‘procedure’, but… duh! Hindsight is so accurate and revealing, and it can really make us feel so… un-smart! So, all plans changed… I can surely handle that! My land-lady decided not to accompany me on the long ride up there the following two days, especially since most of it would be in rain, and this was just for an office visit anyway! So, staring adversity square in the eyeballs, I did the only sensible thing I could think of… road trip! That would definitely change an otherwise dismal slog into more of an adventure to my liking! Yep, I had a very narrow window, if I left within the hour, to scoot west towards Louisiana, hunker down there for the night and allow most of the rain to pass over us, then see what options we had the following morning. I hastily packed my stuff and took off! I did what normally would be a long day for us, only this one began at 1 pm! We rode until around 9pm, then got a room in Moss Point, MS, just as sprinkles had found us to stay. It rained all night, but there was no rain when daylight began to slowly arrive. I checked the radar, and it did look dicey, but I loaded ALI anyway; and, just as I was strapping on the last bag… a shower hit! It didn’t last more than twenty minutes or so, and then it was time to do the deed… we did! Another long day took us west to Hammond, LA, where we made the turn northward… Yeah, just a wee bit round-about… From Ocala, FL, to Nashville, TN, by way of Hammond, LA, and Memphis, TN… Nope, it wasn’t navigational dysfunction this time, I’d done it entirely on purpose… It was a good plan, actually, and with only a couple of minor exceptions, we did manage to miss the rain… and all of the hard rain! By the time we’d arrived in Grenada, MS, I was plumb tuckered out… yep, my arse was majorly dragging, and I was feeling mucho fatigue in places I’d forgotten I even had. I got a room, settled for some fried chicken for did-din, and then turned in early… Sleep did the trick, mercifully, and when I awoke the following morning, I felt like I could handle another long day, although a bit shorter than the previous two, to the motel in Nashville… We eventually did make it there, but there was an unexpected delay… I’d been noticing a little vibration in our girl when decelerating… particularly from speeds above 80mph but nothing noticeable otherwise… We’ve had this come up before, so I figured… Well, she hasn’t been inspected by competent wrenches yet, so that still isn’t the official diagnosis; but, it is my guess at this moment that the universal joint is about to go… As we were cruising along on I-40 east-bound… not busting it, but not holding back much either… I decided to give my aching body parts a break and jettison some built-up, well-used beverages… I took the ramp off the slab into the Rest Area about forty miles or so west of the motel in Nashville… As I continued to slow to little more than a crawl, and as we passed several parked cars, I heard a metallic popping noise… Sure would hate for that to be us! Alas, it was… Shortly after a phone call I’d placed, I received the confirming text message from Rescue Plus that help was on the way… Something caused me to think maybe I’d better make another call… I called the number for the towing service itself provided in the text, and the driver answered.
“Hey, I just wanted to make sure you knew ALI is a big motorcycle, and you’re going to need much more than a pick-up truck.” Believe it or not, that actually happened to us way back yonder in the early days of drive train failures!!! I’d called somebody else then, not wanting to deal with those jokers! “We don’t do motorcycles,” he replied… “Sure glad you called! Saved me a trip.” Do what?!!! Dang, I called Rescue Plus again, and got another person… This time it got done correctly, and actually worked out rather well…
‘Cowboy’ was the driver from a different towing service, and we chatted on the phone… No problem, he assured me, he’s hauled lots of bikes over the years, so I shouldn’t worry… He even called me back later while on his way and offered to bring me water and/or a snack! Nope, I wasn’t worried… not any more… Man, what a bullet we’d just dodged! If I hadn’t placed that call to the first towing service, we wouldn’t have known of their not handling bikes! After waiting about two hours or so for them to have arrived, I’d then have had to start the whole process all over again!
The nice lady I’d spoken with on my initial call had seemed like she knew what she was doing… However, she did sound young, and she definitely had a foreign accent, and even though neither of those are necessarily bad things, they can present an obvious challenge to clear understanding. A tad bit sooner than expected, Cowboy arrived, and we struck up a great conversation about bikes… For starters, he used to ride a Valk himself! He’d sold it and bought a smaller Harley, though, due to his bad knees and his growing inability to handle the weight and seat height of the Fat Lady… especially two-up.
We had a nice chat all the way to the motel… We unloaded our girl and put her in a parking place, as I continued to ‘network’… Yep, Lucky-13 among others were on-tap for my aid, and things had been happening… Gordon and Harley Joe (that was his handle before he bought a Honda Valk. Now he goes by HJ!) Anyway, they are coming over from Clinton, TN, about 180 miles from here, tomorrow to gather up ALI and her mechanically challenged rider, and to haul us back to Gordon’s shop in his garage… He also happens to have a new U-joint in stock, so… If that is indeed the problem, then salvation is soon to be had! If that isn’t the ailment, then more head-scratching will be required, and a new plan formulated… In the meantime, I went to meet my new doctor today… He wasn’t sure about previous tests completely ruling out any spread of my disease outside the prostate, so I had to get a CAT Scan this afternoon… Once those results are evaluated, then, hopefully, we can see what might come next… Mine is the aggressive kind of cancer, so he is understandably concerned about whether it is still contained within the prostate, or if it might have spread to other areas…. One area of bone seems to gain everybody's interest, and that is the upper left rib area... the area I injured in one of my dismounts this past year. A different strategy is needed for either of those two scenarios, i.e., contained or spread, so… I’m no doctor, and I’m not staying in a Holiday Inn Express; but, frankly, I’m starting to get concerned too!!! Well, being concerned is natural, and a valid thing. I'm sure that you know that we're all pullin for ya; even the relative newbies here, such as myself.
Ride reports to the doctor aren't the preferred type. Ride reports where you need a towing service are also not the preferred type. Somehow, you make em sound alright. You definitely know how to find the bright side, something many of us can use to learn from.
Did the doc give you any timeline on when the CAT scan results will be evaluated?

Ken, Thanks mucho for the thoughts and comments. Yeah, sometimes circumstances are not the best, but they, too, are part of the experience. It helps to clarify and focus my thoughts on things when I attempt to capture an event in words. Sort of a 'writing as therapy' kind of thing... Some might pass it off as predictable, since I'm a Libra... However, I have found symmetry and balance throughout my life... in just about everything I can recall. Sure, I've had some bumps and scraps just like everyone has, but there has always been a 'flip side', too, and finding that has become something of an automatic process I undertake whenever something significant occurs... like now, for example... A couple of things struck me, as I made my way through the maze, filled out all of the paperwork, and waited to see the doctor... there are a lot of sick folks, and that is a very busy place! I watched as many, many folks hobbled or were wheeled in ahead of me, and I said a silent prayer of thanks, yet again, for my many blessings and for my life! The doctor had his staff send me for the CAT scan as a 'work-in', in deference to me being so far from home, and since there had been no appointment for that. Again, many folks waiting ahead of me there, too. Still they did work me in, and we moved forward. The doctor is very busy, as experts always are in high demand, and under the circumstances he had been vague on specific times, as I knew would be the case. I was pleasantly surprised at the speed all of this was occurring, given the hordes of folks already in the pipeline ahead of me! Anyway, the results have to be reviewed by the specialist in radiology, then with my doctor, and then 'interpreted' so the next step can be indicated. All of that has to occur on a 'work-in' basis, since none of this had been anticipated or scheduled. He is to call me and discuss his thoughts when he has had a chance to do all of that, all the while seeing throngs of patients, performing countless surgeries and other procedures, and... I'm hoping to know more any day, but it possibly could be several days before that... I'll follow-up myself, if I haven't heard back in a few of days... In the meantime, I'm observing the work about to begin on our girl and thoroughly enjoying the company, hospitality, and genuine friendship of my host, Lucky-13, and the other bros in this area I'll be seeing over the time of this visit! I appreciate your insightful and thoughtful... and kind!... comments! Glad you've joined us!!! DDT Be strong Bruce
Keep going while you can
Dan
Dan, Thanks again, my friend, for the positive and supportive remarks! You've certainly had your own 'mountains to climb', and I admire the way you've handled yourself. Encouragement from you carries with it special significance! DDT DDT it sounds like you are staying on top of all problems. We wish you luck on all maters and saying prayers for you and ALI. I got some extra time for prayers right now....sitting in a deer stand in Jarrel Tx trying to get some hogs off the highway.
Digger, I sincerely appreciate your positive thoughts for us! We're both in excellant hands, though, as I have a well respected physician, and so does our girl! I also appreciate you making a contribution to the 'feral swine removal from Texas roadways' cause! As one who loves to wander around The Republic, I consider your efforts to be a noble and most worthwhile undertaking!!! DDT

Paul,
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean... So far, I've been impressed with my treatment and the level of concern I've observed, and I do have a good vibe on this, particularly where my caregivers are concerned. If it becomes necessary, however, I will 'squeak' as appropriate... This is serious stuff here, and I am taking it very seriously! Thanks, as always, for your comment!

Seth,
Thanks, amigo! I'm a bit surprised with how good it feels to read all of the well wishes and words of encouragement. I've expressed similar sentiments to others over the years, and I've known of my own sincerity and concern for those folks... What I haven't known was if they really made a difference or how it would feel to actually receive them... and now I know! I'm certain there are more fortunate folks than I in this world... I've just never met one!!! If I'm able, I'd like to ride out your way next summer, so... perhaps we can share some wind then... Thanks again!

Bruce, I’ve been trying to think of something profound to say since I read your post. Profoundness isn’t my strong suit though. I will have to just settle for something simple and from the heart. My sister was diagnosed with bladder cancer 2 days before the earthquake last week. We talked about it a bit. There was also nothing profound I could come up in that circumstance either. But I want you to know Brenda and I are sending our love your way. I think you have and deserve more friends pulling for you than anyone I know. I suspect all that positive energy surging from around the country towards you must have an impact. Forever your friend, Rob

Larue, Thank you very much! I enjoy the way you and your friends fit right in with the Florida bunch, even though you are several years the junior of most of us. As we all know, there is but one criteria, though, and that is to be a worthwhile person. From the respect for you I've observed from others, you most certainly measure up in our eyes! I appreciate your kind words and message of hope. It matters, but... I hope it is a very long time before you have cause to truly understand just how much... Thanks again... DDT Bruce, I’ve been trying to think of something profound to say since I read your post. Profoundness isn’t my strong suit though. I will have to just settle for something simple and from the heart. Rob & Brenda, Thank you so very much, my dear friends. Funny how friendships form so easily and quickly among this particular group of folks. Words, both clever and profound, are nice, but the ones from dear friends that are sincere and heartfelt are the ones that truly resonate. I appreciate your message very much... it is indeed profound, but for the right reason... It truly 'hit home'. Thanks!!! DDT P.S. I hope your sister fairs well with her major challenge! I'll keep a good thought for her... Bruce, you know you are in my prayers. You are one of the most upbeat folks I know.
Randy, You and I have much in common, chiefly our fondness for peeking over distant horizons and pursuing adventure on two wheels. We are kindred spirits, and I know you mean what you say. Bruce, I've been following your path on this situation and the challenges faced. I must say, at this point it's of major interest to me as well, I do sincerely hope it is contained within the gland itself. My venture into that realm has been delayed due to some recent gall bladder attacks, meeting with the surgeon in the morning re. the next step. I just want it over and done with so I can move on to the more "manly" centered issue. Offering up some special thoughts and prayers for my/our old friend. Re. the gall stone issue, had the ultrasound last week. Two good messages came of it before the discovery of the stone.....both kidneys are clear of any stones. As the cute little tech moved about around my "gizzard" she suddenly stopped humming and and rather loudly exclaimed "oh my!" I laughed and told her there's two times in my life I don't want to hear that; 1) when someone is working on my car and 2) when someone is working on me. She turned the screen for me to see and there it was, shining like the North Star in the midst of the shadowy image of my gall bladder. She pointed out that it was much larger than the passage just below where it was sitting. No wonder I've been a tad under the weather, as have most of my functions which seem to be equally affected. As you mentioned at our Fla. gathering; "when in doubt, take it out." I already have transportation arranged to/from the hospital, and someone to come stay with Rita in my absence....whether for just a day or overnight.

John,
You are such a class act! None of us ever fully realize the length of the shadow we cast and how it 'touches' others... the number of people, without ever knowing, that we impact, influence (both good and bad!), encourage (or discourage), 'teach', and inspire. Think of it, the same way we look around at others, draw lessons and inferences, and use the examples others provide to alter or tweak our own behaviors and thinking... others are looking at us and having the same reaction.
Your shadow is long indeed, and by sharing your experience with your words and your example, you've made a contribution far beyond anything you might realize... I know you've had a positive influence on this guy, and 'he's' mighty grateful to have known you!!!
I appreciate the well wishes... and, I really appreciate you sharing your experience with us. I am reading your words, drawing encouragement, and gaining some insight... I am also reminded of the way in which we should all face adversity, guard against our inclinations to get down or turn sour on life, and how we should conduct ourselves generally... take the 'high road'.
I know how easy it is to blow this off and say there is little alternative or that it beats other ways of handling situations. I also know how hard it is to practice that day-in and day-out, when our emotions 'bottom out' and all seems pointless or hopeless.
Strong folks, like you, don't give-in or give-up, they soldier on, maintain a hopeful and positive outlook, and accept their fate however that turns out... Not soley for their own purposes or for 'image enhancement', but because they are aware others are watching... taking note and learning.
They don't just do those things in some false and vain hope 'positive thinking' will change outcomes, although that never hurts, but knowing that our conduct is more than self-serving... it matters to those around us, and they are watching. You are impressive, my friend!
Humans have been navigating by the 'North Star' for hundreds, if not thousands, of years. In your case it may be time to 'color outside the lines' and seek another target! Obviously they won't try to force that 'Oh My' sized stone through the outlet, so that narrows options... I'm sure there are a couple of satisfactory ways to do that, and... Yeah, I know that you already know all of this, I'm just rambling here... 'thinking out loud'...
For this humble observer, I'm reminded of the story about the 'man with no feet'. Your challenges and hurdles in life make mine seem almost pedestrian by comparison. What I'm really trying to say is that your words resonate loudly and clearly with me, and that I sincerely appreciate all you've had to say and contribute... I appreciate ya, dude! I'm sure everyone else on here does, too...

Charlie, Thanks, my friend! Yeah, I am in very good hands... all the way around! I'm really impressed so far with the care I've received from the healthcare providers involved with my... 'manly centered issue'. I'm also very impressed, as I always am, with the level of care ALI is receiving from Lucky-13 and others! Gordon put her up on the lift yesterday and began the looksee process... purposeful hunt and peck, disassemble and examine. A couple of things became apparent: The U-joint does not appear defective in any way! Still, it is long in the tooth and it does have close to a hundred grand on the clock, so we're going to replace it anyway. Second, the rear wheel bearings are suspect. Gordon is going to replace those, also, and he's going to 'convert' us to the double roller set-up on the left rear... The bearings in his opinion were hard to roll and he thought he detected some 'rough' places. We didn't think to check the front bearings before having the rear end disassembled. We've decided to just fix what we can in the rear, then ride her to see how things go. If necessary, we'll get into the front area too. I'd quickly developed 'tunnel vision', and assumed it was the U-joint... and didn't even consider any other possibilities. If the problem wasn't the U-joint, and it doesn't appear to be, then almost anything might be possible. Gordon never got to ride her, and I had stopped before an actual failure had occurred, so... trouble shooting has been impaired to some degree. A minor delay, though, because as soon as the ordered bearings arrive tomorrow, we'll be able to let 'an expert' ride her and see how things look then... Thanks for the encouragement, Charlie, looking forward to hanging with you again! DDT We are pulling for you to have a great outcome and that all parts of the "plumbing" continue to work as expected. You are a beloved part of this family and we love reading your many stories. May they all continue to have happy endings.
Oss and Bonnie
Evan & Bonnie, Thanks so much for the well wishes and nice comments! Hard to describe how much it matters and how great it is to see just how many folks have my back and are 'helping' in ways most don't realize. I'm not particularly happy about the way things are, but I gotta say, it's almost worthwhile just to feel the way I do right now! Thanks, for all you do to make this a better place, and for your contributions towards making that 'family' reference we all toss around to be a reality!!! DDT

Bruce, my dear friend, Petra and I wish you all the best in this time of uncertainty, no words can provide the comfort or wisdom that you may need, however do know we are wishing you all the best. As others have said keep positive thoughts. Once Ali is back on her wheels ride my friend, ride like the wind.....wherever the journey takes you next.

Yuri & Petra,
Thanks, my good friends! Special encouragement from such special people is mighty good to receive! No, there are no words that can change the issue, but they can and do change the 'environment' for the time of uncertainty. Like John Schmidt, I too am eager for some clarity, resolution and getting on with everything. My impatience is tempered only by the knowledge that what lies down the road may not be what I want at all!
Not much can be done to speed-up or change the pace of events and the actions of others. However, much can be done to upgrade the quality of the experience during that time frame... Sincere, uplifting communications with friends do much to elevate the spirit and ease the coping with uncertainty, dread, and worry. Thanks for your assistance with my own time during this interlude between what was and what will be... I sure hope y'all are enjoying your new life!

Hey Bruce, In my experience better outcomes, regardless of the problem, cause, or circumstances, are because of positive attitude. In your case that means whatever the challenge you encounter, the outcome will be the best that is possible. As always, I'm praying for the best... ...oh, and it's a great thing you've got a couple rear-end experts on your case...just make sure ya don't get 'em switched around. Valk rear end parts aren't interchangeable with people rear end parts...I'd look up the micro-fiche just to be sure but you're a special order model! (means they broke the mold and then made you). I'll see you on the road.

Bruce, very humbling words my friend. As my dad would say to me following some adversity...."be careful how you live, you may be the only Bible some people ever read." He was a great example for me, outliving two wives....the first died of cancer when I was 10 yrs. old, the second as a result of a major stroke although it was 5-6 yrs. afterward that event. Dad had it rough both times but as you said, I observed and learned. Being of a relatively sound mind and spirit, I usually don't have to pee on the fence. If/when things should end, another of his thoughts come to mind; "if I had known better, I would have done better." Had my meeting with the surgeon today and he agrees, the gall bladder needs removal. Soon as all aspects of home care are covered I'm to call them and they set it all up. Just his gently poking and prodding around got it all jacked up again.

Just his gently poking and prodding around got it all jacked up again.I suppose this is just good doctoring, but after many years on this earth, when something hurts, I'm pretty sure it hurts and I'm not making it up. But I guess with humans, good doctors cannot take people's word for anything. I suppose it's better than the old..... hey doc, it hurts when I do this (doing it). OK, stop doing that, now pay the receptionist on the way out. From HS football, I can still make my right (dominant) elbow hurt by pushing the loose skin back and forth roughly (shooting pain). It's from being tackled and hitting the ground with the football on that side so many times. So, I'm careful not to rub that elbow roughly. If I tell the doc about it, you know what he's going to do. (so I don't tell him) I hope you get a good chancre mechanic John (and he washes his hands).

I'll see you on the road. Daniel, Thanks for the prayers and well wishes! And, thanks for the moldy comments... you were right on that, too... I checked! I am keeping a positive outlook, but I somehow seem unable to avoid hearing the ticking of the life clock! I'm already ahead of projections, and time has to expire sometime... Sure am hoping for some more road trips, though! As for keeping treatments and providers separate... Darned good advice there!!! I've made a note to watch for the doctor approaching me with a greased spline drive shaft! Likewise, I'll definitely be on the lookout for Gordon coming towards me with a rubber glove on his right hand and a greased index finger... Man, just can't be too careful... DDT Best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
Pete, Thank you very much! I'm surely hoping for the same outcome... I appreciate your comment. DDT Dad had it rough both times but as you said, I observed and learned. Being of a relatively sound mind and spirit, I usually don't have to pee on the fence. [/color] John, Sounds like your dad was a very wise man... not just in terms of knowing about life, but in terms of being aware of his 'example' having an influence. Also, from what I've seen, you were an excellent student! Yeah, I almost never fall for that 'pee on the fence' thing either... but... I ain't perfect... DDT I suppose it's better than the old..... hey doc, it hurts when I do this (doing it). OK, stop doing that, now pay the receptionist on the way out. Jess, Would that be the voice of experience? I do agree with you on the part about getting a doctor who washes his hands!!! DDT Keep strong my friend... Carl, Thanks, amigo, for you thoughts and comments... You've certainly 'been there', and I do hear ya! Because things seem to have always worked out, though, I'm inclined to feel OK about the outcome. I, of course, know things could go the other way, but... I've pondered on that for quite a while, and I've come to terms with that inevitability, too. A vivid imagination helps, but I also agree some things are just too awful to acknowledge! I miss the musings you used to post... DDT Rubber glove........

Dan, No way around it! Gonna be lots of that no matter who does the insertion! In our meeting, I did carefully observe the fingers of the doctor... just large enough to get the job done, but small enough to avoid much discomfort... The best of both worlds! As for Gordon, I took the precaution of gauging his digits, as well.. just in case confusion does rein! Assuming he'd know where to insert it, his would be marginally OK... Having fun, so far!!! Wonder how I'll feel about that in a short while? ??? DDT

A little humor to add here re. that ever lovin' "finger wave." You all know the old prank that goes with this story, except this one is true. When stationed in northern Maine back in the early 60's, my next door neighbor was an Air Force medical tech of some sort, always involved in various procedures and assisting in the OR as well. He used to tell of one young dr. that loved to play the old prank on certain male visitors where the digital exam was in order. Once bent over the exam table and just as the finger went in, he would motion for my neighbor to come in and put one hand on the patients other shoulder, opposite the dr's. hand. Some of the reactions he described were gut splitting.

John, THANKS A LOT!!! Now I've got even more to think about besides where drive shafts with greasy splines and a gloved hand with a greasy index finger are going, and who's aiming which for what where!!! Not that there's anything wrong with that... (Remember the Jerry Seinfeld Show?) Well, maybe not that much to worry about... The rear wheel is back on our girl, at least, so one source of anxiety has been dramatically lessened. Haven't been able to test ride our girl yet, though... Temps are in the mid 30s here, and it's raining steadily and, while not exactly hard, it is of more than sufficent volume and force to make any forays out and about less than enticing... Maybe tomorrow afternoon... Still haven't heard from the prostate ranger, however... Wait! Is that the fat lady clearing her throat I hear? Nah, it was only Gordon... Wishful thinking, I guess... I think that chubby broad might still be on vacation... this may take a while... Like you, John, I'm a bit impatient because of all the uncertainty... What also worries me is, what happens next may be even worse than the waiting and doubts have been!!! Gawd, maybe that hands on the shouders thing isn't so bothersome, after all... Waiting and worrying... then maybe dealing with some really BAD news is a bit... you know...! I just looked out the window... Big, wet snowflakes are now falling, but they aren't sticking, because the ground is a bit too warm... Doubtful any riding will occur any time soon, though, as this is forecast to continue until tomorrow morning... Nice to look at and no shoveling required! Jim Cantore is over in North Carolina and not in Gordon's yard, so that's a load off. Well, looking on the brightside, I can truthfully say, at least we ain't got locust... DDT

I haven’t been on the board in quite a while, so I am just now hearing of your diagnosis. My thoughts are with you. Please drop me a text from time to time with updates.
On another note ... is there an after Christmas ride this year?

Janice,
Thanks, my friend! On hold for the holidays, but this appears at the moment to be more of a speed bump than a brick wall, so I'm keeping a positive outlook. Activity (surgery) will pick up in another two or three weeks, and then we can hopefully put this behind us!
Glad to see you're still around, even with all the diverse activities in your life! You often come up in our conversations about past experiences, interesting events, and amazing characters... You have made a most positive impression!!!
As for the after Christmas Day Ride, some possibilities are being kicked around, but nothing is nailed down at the moment... weather will have a huge impact on whatever might develop... Much of the discussion centers around hooking up with T-bird in Cleveland, TN, so I would be looking at that as a real possibility.... Stay tuned! I'm hopeful something will develop, and that you'll be able join us... we miss you!

Let’s hope it is just a speed bump. I can’t imagine you being out of the saddle for long!
I am in AL again till spring. I will be managing the hotel in Prattville for the month of Feb, while the owners are on vacation. If any of you are in the area, stop by to see me.
Bob needs some exercise! I tried riding the east coast last May, but as you know, Mother Nature rerouted me....although I must say, it was good seeing everyone in KY. I am thinking of trying the trip again this year. If you (or any of the others reading this), are up for a road trip during May, drop me a line.
Take care of yourself Bruce, and stay in touch. Text or email is the best way to reach me, but I’ll try to remember to check in here occasionally.
Be safe, Janice

Quite a pair y'all make... I hear ya on the need for exercise our girls must receive... ALI is very much like that, herself! In fact, I just stuck my head out in Nick's garage to check on her, and... in her own, non-complaining way, she left no doubt she harbored no hesitation regarding heading out again! Indeed, today would not be too soon... Alas, that day is rapidly approaching, perhaps even tomorrow... but we'll just have to see how things unfold... I'm in no hurry to return to Florida, partly because I have no idea how much time would have to be spent in that danged ol' recliner, and... some time there will be inevitable. On the other hand, I do have some things to attend, so... can't dilly-dally too long before arriving there! Your thoughts about touring the northeast are solid, in my opinion, and I'm certain you will find adventure plus no small amount of discovery awaiting you! Lots and lots of history to ponder, if you're in to that sort of thing, and lots of curious folks to observe and meet! Wonderful folks, though, and you'll be mighty glad you went. As long as you're thinking of going in that direction, I strongly urge you to consider going on up into Canada, too. The 'Maritime Provinces' are also filled with new things for us folks from dear old Dixie to discover, and the people you'll meet up there are like none other... and they are also just great to get to know!!! Just be sure to pack your rain gear... If I should get a wild hair to return to that area again, I'll definitely let you know... I do consider you to be a first-rate ride companion! Again, thanks for the well-wishes and good thoughts... I'm really looking forward to getting all of this behind me and heading out for more of... you know... DDT Fingers all crossed, prayers aimed your way and for right now? Merry Christmas!!
Pappy, Thanks, my friend! Hope you and Lesa are having a good Christmas and holiday season, as well! I'm doing quite well... enjoying a holiday I hadn't planned or even figured on, and contemplating my ride to... where ever when ever... whatever comes next... PERFECT!!! Unscripted and unrehearsed... just the way I like it! I'll be seeing y'all again one of these days... down the road someplace... Thanks again for the good thoughts! DDT
