Started sleeting around noon and now at 1.45 it's snowing. Not very heavy but there's up to 7 inches forecast over the next 24-36 hours. We are right at the SW edge of the snow forecast. Asheville, Boone might get up to 24 INCHES!!!  |

Some years ago I was traveling I-75 from Chattanooga south after a few inches fell. We had made a point to get to Chattanooga that night because a front was coming through. In a minivan with 5 kids (3 mine) and the wife heading to Mickey's house. Somewhere around Dalton a GA state officer pulled me over and informed me I was driving in an unsafe manner since the interstate was closed and I had to get off and get somewhere safe. I got off the next exit, waved to the gentleman, got a cup of coffee and got right back on. One of the easiest trips through Atlanta I have ever had. Two inches and maybe they salt and plow here. 24 inches is no fun here, no equipment, even more fun.

2.15 am. The power just went out. Might have to crank Jenny at sunlight.
You know that moment when you wake up and it's too light outside? That's when you know it's snowed a substantial amount. Because there's just too much light reflecting from the snow even though it's slightly Cloudy.

It was all rain here in South Carolina, just over the hill from Britman's house,
until about 5:00am... now it is a real sleety mess, a bunch of gloppy wet ice
on everything... I hope the power stays on!

The same folks who wait until the hurricane is almost upon them then go to buy generators and food and water etc. And of course then there's shortages and high prices. We could be without store access for 9 months or so and live off our three pantries and freezers and supplies. Have a generator and plenty of gas for it, wood for the Franklin; gas lanterns and camp stoves, charcoal, wood pellets, well, ammo, etc. But then we're DINKs (Double Income No Kids). Maybe I'm just insensitive... |

Not insensitive, just a different life experience. Kids change things for sure, and in my case, grandkids have been life altering. Plus my picture is in the dictionary right by “procrastinator”.

Living miles from town and the grocery we got in the habit of always picking groceries up when heading home from work. Still have the habit when we both now work from home - always looking to combine stops. Both of us, now our commutes are measured in feet. I start my day in the office, in my skivvies - about 20 feet from the bedroom. I do more shopping for other stuff online than locally. It's brought to our door by Big Brown. |

I have about 3 or 4 weeks of food at all times.
Dry beans, rice, pasta, canned goods etc.
A few cases and jugs of water.
Gotta be ready for the zombie apocalypse.

These hands free lights are so much better for working on anything (unless you really need a zillion candlepower for long range).  They always look where you look. |

While the SNOW missed us ENTIRELY when I got up this A M it continues to be DRY But it were 13 degrees F here!  KY3 in spgfld generally gitz it most right but before the SNOW missed us ENTIRELY they wuz talkin 6" to 12" fer us!  The very FACT the SNOW missed us ENTIRELY saddens me NOT!  RIDE SAFE. |

They claim we are to get 20"... wow, that is a lot of snow, hang in there, it will melt eventually right? not looking forward to our first over 2-3 inch snowfall either, it can never come as far as I am concerned I also have several months of food/drinks to get me buy in case I ever need to but not likely to happen being without power, etc. for very long due to weather, etc... One thing I do not have is a generator but our power has not been out ever for more than 1 day ever so not like I would ever use it much to begin with, but thought of getting one though. My ex neighbors never had a stand alone freezer like I do being pretty full and they lived week by week for sure since their cupboards and fridge/freezer never had much in it, but they ate out a lot am sure, something we rarely do. Restaurants would be non existent being bankrupt as much as we go out to eat guessing on average once per month tops, but goes in streaks some weeks 2-3 times while have gone months before without eating out. Our other ex neighbor when they lived right next door use to come over and ask for simple items like a few eggs or flour or some sugar even though they could easily go down to the grocery store in town 1/2 mile away and buy their own. |

Skiing, Snowmobiling, marten trapping. But looking at your pic I only think of plowing, shoveling, cars getting stuck. Don't miss it a bit. Be safe over there |
