Eighteen years ago tonight, I bought my first Valk....

Still have her, still love that bike, still no new bike made I'd trade her for...

(Oh, and I got married 18 years ago sometime last month, don't remember which day though Wink )

Almost 45 years ago I traded my ride for a bride, cause I thought I had to give up all the toys to keep a roof over our heads.

Would you trade the Valk to have the 750K back ?  Seems it was the cats meow in the day.
Great looking bike .

If I could find one the same condition as my current Valk, I'd trade in a heartbeat. The Sunrise orange was highly desirable when new and still is. You had to pay list price or more because there was a waiting list everywhere.

My current Valk is same model/color as Serks wouldn't take twice the current going price.

Best thing is, still held on to my little bride all this time.

Congrats...

Jan 17th will be 19 years for my Valkyrie.  It turned 20 last May as it was produced in May, 1998 as a 1999 model.  It was on a pedestal in the showroom for many months and I kept looking at it while I was getting parts and upgrades on my new 1999 VS1400 intruder.

Time sure flies...

Serk,

Congrats on the big anniversary! I know of what you speak... ALI and I have a big day coming soon, ourselves!!! A life-altering event, and most of us had no idea at all at the time what lay ahead for us in terms of adventure and discovery... Again, congrats, and best wishes for the next eighteen years!

I bought my Valk in October 1996 as a early 97. It was a red and white with Honda leather bags, windshield, and a luggage rack. As time went on I fell in love with the 2000 blue and silver Interstate, and found a set of blue and silver hard bags on EBay. Also found a 6.9 gallon tank, and took it in for a matching paint job. Put a set of Viking exhaust on and many parts from Cobra and Rattlebars. Had her for 17 years, loved that bike. The only thing I have left if fond memories, and a Honda neon Valk sign which hangs in my workshop.

Very sorry to say I do not own a Valk anymore. Due to both of my knees going south, I regretfully can not ride anymore. I do like reading everyone's posts here about their rides, and still enjoy looking at all the beautiful Valks you guy's and gals have. I tried a different bike 2006 Yamaha 1700 Road Star to see if it would help with the knees, but will be selling it after the 1st of the year. I put 1985 Honda Goldwing trunk on it like the one I put on the Valk, and a set of Interstate bags, along with a Hoppe bat wing fairing. Looks like my riding days are over. Sad

I feel your pain. Literally. Before I had my bad knees replaced riding was painful to say the least. Afterward I can ride like I used to. In fact i went to Roanoke for inzane 8 months after replacement, no problem. Is knees replacement in the cards for you??

I am 65 years old. I had my right knee replaced when I was 49 years old. Because. It was  so far gone. Being completely  destroyed when I was 19 years old. I thought I was going to have to be riding a trike. After rehab and therapy  I have been riding two wheels for the last 16 years. God is to thank. I pray that you can get fixed up and keep riding.

seriously,  18 years NO haircut?  I know you have long hair, but one would think after 18 years you would have Crystal Gale hair down past your _utt crack???   Grin

I know for me it has been around 30 years since I last paid for a haircut doing it myself since age 18ish or so probably saved around 2 grand,    enough to darn near pay for one cycle, well almost.... Roll Eyes

Seriously, 21 or 22 years since my last hair cut, trim, etc of any type.

I switched jobs in the late 90's specifically because UPS (My employer at the time) required me to keep my hair short, ended up with a company that doesn't care and have been working there ever since. (That's how I know roughly when my last haircut was)

My hair was getting quite long until I had gastric bypass surgery 5ish years ago, the surgery causes hair to fall out about 6 months post op as your body deals with the shock, and it never really comes back the same...

Congrats Serk.  Hope I make it 18 years with mine.  She was 17 when I got her.

John--I know it's not a Valk, but the Can Am Spider can be had with an automatic.  Course, you probably already know that.

I either use multiple pony tail holders to keep it together or if my elder spawn is feeling creative I'll let her braid it...
