A man who deserves a statue and our respect
I remember a line he always said when hosting the academy awards many times, or as he calls it at his house Pass over (he never won)
A real american hero in his own way
Thank you for the post

Way before I knew of his troop support he made me laugh. Many, many times.
I can't imagine how each individual serviceman felt when Hope walked out on stage.

Thanks Rams for the memories. I was lucky enough to see him and his show in Viet Nam, We just got in a day or two before from a 40 day stint in the jungle. He gave us so much hope and did it in style. Great memories, thanks again.

A great American, A great entertainer. I was too young for Vietnam (thank God), but I remember watching his Christmas specials on TV. Mr. Hope made me proud to be an American.

Thank you for posting that, he gave so much happiness to so many. No saint by any means but a man who had a gift and a heart for people, who used what he had for the betterment of others.

Thanks to Bob Hope for his support of the troops. He came to both air bases I was stationed at in Thailand. But I wasn't qualified to see him thanks to the a-hole lifers. Of course they did but I was assigned busy work / duty instead. So his entertainment was a negative for me - a reminder of how much I hated the service. You had to kiss the right ass to get such priviliges on my tours.
