Savago, I probably don't agree with you politically on all your views, but as a lawful resident alien (just my educated guess), carrying your own weight, gainfully employed and paying your taxes, you are welcome in my Country.... (as long as you stay out of trouble).  cooldude Grin

You clearly have done some reading and homework on our history and politics, which is more than many ever do (citizens and aliens).

I *do* oppose how the government is going against the best interest of the American people, precisely because I care about USA and its future.

And let me clarify that most of the things that are going bad* in USA

* bad public schools, increasing crime, corrupt politicians, crumbling infrastructure, guns confiscation, destruction of social security, etc.

Do you place the blame for the above  at the feet of this current Govt?

@Pete: Sorry, my mistake. I'm actually paying the social security + medicare of the future generation.

no, you were correct to begin with.

https://www.incharge.org/financial-literacy/where-do-my-social-security-tax-dollars-go/

It's a Ponzi scheme, and even worse than that, a Ponzi scheme that I've got a gun pointed at my head forcing me to participate in.

Let me opt out of this Ponzi scheme and invest for my own retirement. (Which I'm doing anyway on the assumption that this Ponzi scheme will collapse before I'm able to receive any of my stolen money back.)

But.... that's a whole other can of worms.

If we are at war we should reinstate the draft. In this order
1 All senators and congressmen sons are first.
Next it is according to wealth. Richest first and then on down the line to the poorest last.
That would assure us of the shortest war in history.

How sexist of you and your toxic masculinity!  In today's world of equal rights and equal pay for women, this should be Children rather than sons.  The feminist that want everything equal should be taught what EQUAL means.

In today's world and for the last many years, many folks have paid more into SS/Medi than they will ever live to withdraw.

For many of us today our payments into the system and potential withdrawals, we will need to live well beyond 100 years to break even. Probably not going to happen.

As for the congressional management of the system, someone needs to fired and jailed for gross mismanagement of the system.

Bottom line for many of us, SS/Medi is the worst investment we have ever been forced to make.

Granted with the help of the politicians, SS/Medi has been turned into a slush fund for many  - many of us are not them........

Do we begrudge helping those who cannot help themselves - no - but if you are going to cite and blame - do it to those that deserve it and stop with the nonsense.

As said, I was NOT trying to slight anyone, don't take it personal. Sometimes I wonder why I post here. SHEESH!  Undecided QUOTE by Western Biker

I apologize. As a Korean war vet, I jump too soon to the wrong conclusions. However, the Korean War is/was largely forgotten.

The Vietnam war was the opposite. Micro management from  MacNamara (sp) , the brass, and the  DC pols,  a media that looked for 'evil' done by our Armed forces, and a bunch of other things made life miserable for those  GI's, Navy, Air Force,  Coast Guard, and Marines returning who served for the arseholes in DC..

Maybe I should be glad that the Korean War was forgotten.

Today, as a member of the Army Association I know that the Army has a problem recruiting.  Hard to find physical fit and mentally able people to fill the ranks.  Both the physical and mental ability requirements are much tougher now because of the type of wars expected and the technology.

Oh yeah, about Social Security.  I paid into it all my working life.  The pols in DC kept' borrowing' on it plus doling it out to many who refused to work. It is NOT an entitlement to me.

I am not OSS but I am Oss and I remember the pledge of allegiance  and singing songs in grammar school assembly Marine corps army navy air force songs and saluting the flag every morning

This is back when JFK was killed and a few years later

Kids dont see this today, they see what hollywood shows them as did we as kids

Also a whole generation just ahead of me were telling us when they came back from Vietnam dont go,  I got a draft card then the war ended  AT #348 was never going to be drafted and never thought about it during those peacetime years.

Wars are usually about money and power. Big business was thought to be good for the USA for years and colored the CIA and our foreign policy. Some good much not so good  IMHO  It so happened fascism rose aided by the failure of the world to care about a few million armenians, tens of millions of chinese and the audacity of the communists to infiltrate and do a damn good job even today of
lying to our kids.

I have no answer but I think the volunteer army was a good move and have many relatives who went in since 9-11 just as many who were in service in all the wars, conflicts etc,  I am blessed to be a free man in a free (for now) country and support our troops however I can in my own way

Perhaps we can all do more for them and show our kids by example
Show BIZ has more important things now, like Cardi B vs Nicki Minaj and;

PHOENIX (AP) It appears Michelle Obama received a reality check from her mom following her appearance at the Grammys.

The former first lady took to Instagram Wednesday to share a text exchange with mom Marian Robinson. Obama had received a standing ovation opening Sunday's awards show with Alicia Keys, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and Jada Pinkett Smith.

Robinson wrote: "I guess you were a hit at the Grammys." Her daughter asked mom if she had watched. Mom replied she saw it and then asked if her daughter had met "any of the real stars."

Mother and daughter then quibbled over whether Obama had told her she would be on.

Obama ended the exchange by writing "And I AM A real star...by the way..."

Her mother replied, "Yeah."

My son Jason currently serves in the USAF as a F15-E Crew Chief. He is 29 years old. I have met countless members of USAF through him and had many come to the ranch and stay as they pass by going to new assignments. It has renewed my faith in the current generation. Somehow we only hear about the non traditionalist of this generation.

You missed the whole point! Did you even read the post and the ones after.
Willow explains it the best with this quote:

"The original post, if I understood it correctly, was about what was presented from Hollywood by the greatest generation as opposed to what is making up Hollywood and what they are presenting today."

That is what this whole post was about, not your sons and his friends military experience and not my military experience either.  Read the post!

Yes I read it and comprehended it. Thanks for asking. Most decent human beings would of acknowledge Jason’s service to our country along with his fellow airmen. Someone piss in your cereal this morning? You post is about generations and their contributions to our armed services who also went on to a career in acting. One thing stands out in my mind about this. The generation of WWii male adults had a much higher percentage of males in the armed services because of the war and also because of the draft. Therefore logic and the law of percentages would agree that there would be a higher percentage of veterans in the entertainment industry then than now. While we currently have armed troops in foreign lands fighting it is no where near the volume of troops we had in WWII and we do not have a draft. Therefore once again logic dictates there will be a fewer veterans in today’s entertainment industry. That is how the law of averages works. I was just trying to mention that there are good serving members of today’s younger generation serving their country. I probably should of said all this in my original post but I really didn’t want to be this long winded. But thank you for being and asshole and I hope I don’t ever have the pleasure of meeting you.

Yeah, I thought there was a bit of over-reaction on Westernbiker's part, but thought maybe he was just having a bad day.  But he did take "1st Place Street Kings National Cruiser Class", you'd think he'd be more cheerful with an accomplishment like that.
