She’s just jumping on the band wagon. After the campaigns, won’t be mentioned again until the next election cycle. JMHO

The linked article says she is white (as if we couldn't see that in the photo), I guess there may have been some confusion as I was always told she claimed to be Native American.

I would support all living former slaves being paid reparations regardless of race.

Just trying to pull in the African American vote.

Every time she opens her mouth, I get sick to my stomach.

Warren is simply trying to buy black American support/votes.  Won't surprise me if she comes out in favor of giving illegal aliens immediate citizenship and the right to vote.

Can you imagine the logistical nightmare this would be?

How do you prove how black you are? Would it be anyone who's black or do you have to prove lineage to a former slave? How about the new trend of lily white folks saying they identify as black?

Do you get a varying amount of money based on what percentage black you are? How many ancestors were former slaves?

It'd almost, ALMOST be worth it just to see Democrat politicians having to dust off Apartheid era South African and Nazi German era standards of racial determination to categorize people into categories to decide how much, if any, they're "entitled" to.

Not surprising at all. Every Democrat candidate will need a long list of promised "free stuff" to win. It's not about policy, it's about power and how to buy the votes to get it.

Warren used her "false" Native American heritage to help her with college tuition.....yeah NOTHING wrong or illegal with that at all. Hey...didn't we also have a president for 8 years who basically did the same thing?

I'm not new here just have a different handle now, and NO I am not far leaning as you are likely assuming. I could link many examples of proof, but what sources are legit anymore right?  Wink As for Barry's college records, they are for some reason being held tight quite secretively.

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren...supports the federal government issuing reparations to black Americans who were economically affected by slavery...

"We must confront the dark history of slavery and government-sanctioned discrimination in this country that has had many consequences including undermining the ability of Black families to build wealth in America for generations," Warren, who is white, said in a statement to Reuters.

I wonder what the reparations would be if they are such that they were put in an economic position similar to the descendants of those who managed to not be sold into slavery in Africa, and who remained there.

While we're at it, let's seek reparations for all the injustices that happened to any of our ancestors.  My ancestors were refugees from Russia, where many of their brothers and sisters were murdered, raped, pillaged, and kicked off of their land.  That should be worth more than a few rubles.

First, I think the idea of reparations to present day society is downright foolish. In today's society, can you think of anyone that is or has been held back economically or otherwise as a direct result of something that happened as much as 500 years ago? The earliest slaves to arrive in America happened in the early 1500's, although most of those weren't of African descent(so who gets that reparation?). It is known that the majority of the black slaves out of Africa were actually captured and sold by black operators in Africa. Back then nearly every country in the world had slaves or sometimes referred to a "indentured servants." So for me it begs the question; which among them have paid reparations to their descendants of events having taken place 4-500 years ago?"  As stated earlier, touting the idea of paying reparation is a thinly veiled method of buying votes from a specific demographic group, a group that already votes primarily Democrat.

Do you get -$ for living in Govt housing

Do you get -$ for benefiting from affirmative action

And so on.

If a politician is spouting a "brave new idea" it's generally going to be badly thought out, planned and executed.

I originally was "MotoDad71", but I forgot my password and was having issues not getting password reset emails sent. So I got impatient and created a new profile, and that too took forever since I wasn't getting any emails sent to me from here.  Roll Eyes I only use Google accounts and nothing was going to my spam folders, so have no idea what's going on.  Willow sent me an email from his private email, and I told him what was going on, so I said what the heck and just started over with a name I like better.  Cool

Really important point. He made a lot of promises during his campaign and it took him 2 years to deliver on his fiasco.

I agree mostly with the head brother.  I support reparations being paid to all living African imported slaves prior to 1865.  Reparations should amount to the amount that would have been paid to a hired hand for the duration of their slavery less, of course, the cost of passage for the Atlantic crossing.  If that slave has already passed I am in favor of the reparation being evenly distributed to his descendents to no more than two generations.

I feel no consideration should be given to the improved lifestyle and opportunity for descendents in North America as opposed to what could have been expected in Africa.

Where do I sign up?

1. My DNA check (those are 100% accurate) shows that I'm .03% western African.

2. I was forced bused in the 7th and 8th grade to even out the racial segregation. I was the 25% minority and I'm positive my smarts would be higher had I attended one of those good white kid schools. I'm pretty sure my Junior high school years did give me that "I don't want to go to school" attitude and had I not been bused I would have been an "I is a college graduate" smart guy.

Exactly. Most slaves were captured in Africa by other tribes, shipped to America on (mostly Dutch) ships, and sold. Now, whom would owe whom? Are there any slaves left alive here? African slavers who supplied the ships with the slaves? People who owned them? I'm certainly not paying a penny for what was done before I was born, and who would I pay it to? Certainly not to current living American black descendants who's station is no doubt vastly better than the current African descendants of those who escaped capture. What we call the edge of poverty here is middle class in much of the World, and wealthy in most of central Africa. How many people in much of the World have a residence with 1k+ sq ft living space, heat and AC, automobile(s), running water and guaranteed food and healthcare?
