Beautiful east Tennessee ( GOD'S Country )

« on: February 24, 2019, 04:18:25 AM »

I signed up not showing any from The Great State Of Tennessee going  Undecided  I'm not on the " Who's Going " list as of now . Only showing total 125 going sure hoping the update adds some numbers to this.
I know one more that's going and another couple of riders that claims they are going from here.
Hookin' up with a friend from Mississippi in Arkansas the week before and doing a meandering ride to Taos, NM getting there on June 9.
Let's go southern states click link below ( Sign Up ) Let's Ride.

You were on the list a few days ago and I noticed last night you had vanished.

I believe Motomomma is in charge of updating things for that, and she's been exceptionally busy with a project for her paying job the last week or so, that might explain things on the page being updated front.

And don't worry about Southerners being represented, I count 19 Texans on the Look Who's Going page, so we're good in confederate representation, although sure would be nice to see more of my friends from Tennessee and other states sign up too!

Well, I haven't been able to get a confirmation from any of my local MI riders to go, and I myself have been squarely on the fence.  I returned to the group of employed Valkyrie riders and now only have 2 weeks vacation vs. the 6 I had when I retired.  If I decide to go to IZ, I'd love to meet up with you and your group and ride in with you ( as long as a Yankee tagging along won't interfere with all those secret Rebel riding practices).  Binkie said he can't make inzane, but was interested in coming out the week after and doing some western riding, so that may be in the plans as well and you'd be welcome to tag along if interested.  I was planning on making my decision closer to the cut off date, but will let you know.

If I go Inzane I plan on Grand Canyon, Zion, Goblin State Park, Million Dollar Hwy, Mt Evans, Pikes Peak and other points along the way afterwards keeping off the multi lane where possible.

Lots of time off as a school bus driver.  cooldude

I was on a few of those roads back in September 2018. Didn't do Pikes Peak on the bucket list. The road up Mt Evans will beat you and bike to death.

Who's going is updated.  Registrations started off slow last year too... hopefully it will pick up soon.

I have not signed up yet because I cannot be certain that I will be able to handle the heat.  New meds have made that an issue for me.   Lips Sealed

However, I am planning to hook up with DDT and make a lazy and very long whimsical roundabout trek toward Inzane.  If it works out that I am physically up to the heat, and our “no plan” plan works out the way we think, then I should be in Taos for Inzane.  I will know more in early May.

I am hoping to do a lot more riding this year than I have been able to do for the last few years.  This ride will, for me, exceed all the miles I have ridden in the last 3 years.  Smokin Joe’s “fall color ride” is also high on my things to do list for this year.

At this point my plan is to head out to Taos by way of the Blue Ridge, Fl and then work my way over to Houston via the gulf coast.  Meander from Houston to Phoenix for a few days to visit my youngest and his family, then to IZ.  After this shortcut, maybe the long way home.  Hoping to take another 40 day long ride to start the summer.

Can't do much on the temp getting there or home, but the average high temp in Taos for June is 83, and it rarely exceeds 90...

Getting  there and getting home is more the concern than being there.  However, having reduced the meds and taking a more leisurely and northerly route just might make it doable.  We shall see!

A buddy and I plan on taking 5 days to get there. Will hit Interstate up 70
then down through Kansas into Colorado and into New Mexico.
Will be showing him some sites along the way.
Went this way last year on my way to Cortez and had a fairly good time.

Tossing it around for when we go to Utah. Is it worth it or just bragging rights?

For me it was more about bragging rights but then I lived in the "Springs" and did it every time someone came for a visit.    I also saw most of it from the right seat of a helicopter so, my opinion is somewhat worthless.   Do it once.
