Dang, sustained in the 40 mph, with gusts close to 80 in some areas.

It's a big blow round here.

Trees down everywhere and I'm not going to jinx myself talking about electrical power.

Lots of dead oaks still standing.  They were killed by 2 years of deforestation from gypsy moths followed by a summer drought.

Makes me concerned, riding with these dead mammoths on the tree line, on just about every road. Undecided

Yes it is. I came home to find a bunch of my roof cap shingles in the yard. Yay.

I thought 50 mph gusts on Sunday was enough, you can keep the 80...

One of these days (sure hope not)  my 100+ year old burr oak tree in my backyard will be coming down if we get over 50 mph winds.  Right  now,  branches break off of it 6 inches in diameter from time to time but not the split main trunk thank god for it did  come down, it would hit the back of our house and/or garage being pretty big.

You know the wind is bad when over a week ago that 4 inches we got of snow piles up into a drift in our backyard over 40 feet long by near 4 feet high.

I am so sick of winter the minor snow amounts keep coming and coming one right after another every few days might be for sure April before cycles come out vs. last few weeks in March.

right there with you Bill.

Glad I left the Valk in the garage. but I was tempted for like 5 seconds as the rain washed the salt off the road

I'm tired of winter here too. Riding days have been few and far between, between the snow and cold. We're supposed to have single digits for lows this weekend, and highs "only" in the teens / low 20's.

We were out tonite cutting trees out of roads, trying to keep them all open.
Can honestly say that this was the strongest wind I’ve ever been in with the exception of on top of Mt. Washington.
Still have multiple roads closed waiting on National Grid to cut power so we can cut the trees up.

Blew like hell all day here too.

My powered CO2 detector screams when the power goes out, and woke me up at 730AM.  Fortunately only out briefly.

On the upside, I won't have to pay to get all the deadwood cut out of my 5 80yo oaks.  It all blew out.  Some of it didn't even hit my roof.

Didn't lose power, thankfully.  Couple of good size trees fell across my road yesterday.

Heading out soon, wonder what the war zone is going to look like?

News report stated the fastest gust was 78 up in the Berkshires.

I wonder what mt Washington recorded?

It came across Lake Michigan at a sustained 42 MPH. Wind gust to 76 MPH and this went on for 24hrs. I never lost power either but did for 15 hours in the last blow a couple of weeks ago. Never in my life seen it like this here and lived here all my life. Can't wait to see what spring storms bring!

Jess, hopefully you meant CO detector not CO2.

We have 30 mph straight winds every so often.  This winter we have enjoyed several days of 50 plus straight winds for a hour or so.  Thankfully not shingles blew off my roof, but the they are concrete tiles.   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Also it seems that February storms won't stop.  The Cascade mountains in OR went from 60% snow pack at the end of January to over 100% right now in most places.  that is feet of snow pack, and more is projected for Tuesday/Wednesday.   Thankfully we only have 6" of snow pack our yard.    Really getting tired of shoveling the stuff.

anyone live over by buffalo NY or along Lake Erie shoreline?  Heard there are massive 40-50 feet tall ice tsunamis from high winds moving chunks of ice to shore.  Pretty neat yet dangerous.

I'm south of the lake. Friends and relatives have sent me pics  Shocked, Mother Nature at her finest.

I am/was on call for my job throughout the weekend. When I saw the forecast, I cringed. I knew Sunday would be a PIA. I've never seen sustained winds around here like that for such a long period of time. Sunday was a busy day. Get a break from snow but, got that sh*t  Angry
I was shocked how many people were out walking during that weather  uglystupid2. The city of Kent has a Tree City designation! Need I say more? Kids out selling candy for fundraiser at school. Parents need slapped!
Sick of winter(s) all together.(Used to enjoy them before I had to work out in them) I have 6 more before I can retire. Doing just what my older brother did. Have the house sold by retirement and heading south. We've told the kids this, as they should plan accordingly.

largest car pileup in WI winter history thanks to the wind....  luckily only 1 dead but dozens and dozens injured.  People need their head examined on the interstates for following way, way, too closely at way, way too great of speed.  I usually go 72-75 mph in a 70 mph interstate speed limit.  The need to go over 80 mph is foolish and wanna bet most of these drivers were going speed limit in near white out conditions and probably slippery roads as well.  If I was a police officer, I would ticket everyone doing over 80 mph which is probably 1/2 the cars on WI interstates usually.  Then you get the idiot doing 35-40 mph in ideal driving conditions in a 55 mph speed zone and you wonder why crashes happen?   uglystupid2
