I happened upon a Fox Live Stream Youtube Announcement Re: Bill Barr and law enforcement officials Targeting Scam Artists who prey on Seniors online and with scam phone calls. I watched for a few minutes and moved on. About 5 min. later I received a local area code phone call "FROM" Carnival Cruise Lines offering a complimentary Cruise. I hung up and then thought why not find out what is going on. I looked at my call history and called the number back. It was just some young fellow who sounded pretty surprised that his number i.d. came up on this call. I really don't think he is involved, instead I think his i.d. # was probably hijacked for the scam call. What a weird coincidence that this happened right after watching that video.. Here's the Fox Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTFu18CioDM

When I answer they are recorded scam calls. I called one back and some guy answered. He was surprised when I told him his number was used in a scam. My wife got a call when we were on our way back from WI from one of our neighbors number that turned out to be a charity looking for donations. They are getting sneeky.

I amuse myself with these calls 3 different ways.
1. I have a rescue whistle next to the phone. Press 1 to get a human, and blow their ear drum out. 2. Press 1, usually get a woman, the ask her to S.O.M.D. 3. Get a human and tell them they have reached the FBI phone fraud hotline. Ask them for their complete name, address and home phone number for further prosecution.
Do I feel bad about being a dick? Nope, I’m on the do not call list, so don’t call and I won’t be a dick.
And just to prove everybody is in on scamming, last Wednesday I went for an eye appt. got a new prescription. Monday I got a call from KY., saying she was the administrator for my work ophthalmology plan. Huh, my work doesn’t have an ophthalmology plan. The insurance company or the dr. Office had to sell the info.

The number calling me isn't on my call list and they don't leave a voice mail I Do NOT ever call the dumb asses back to inquire as to what they wanted. Far too many scams out and about these days. Certain E-mails do NOT even git opened-straight flushed to the kaka can. RIDE SAFE.

I get WAY TOO MANY calls that have the same xxx-yyy that my cell phone starts with. 99%+ are scam , or car warranty.
I usually let them ring until they get directed to voicemail - (they never leave one), or I just swipe it to ignore.

I get this all the time since my wife switched my phone. It’s irritating as hell. I’m on the Do no call registry. Evidently they have figured a way around it.

Two things I've done. First, nomorobo.com is a free call blocking service. Once they receive the number it's blocked. Better still......recently purchased a new set of phones for the house (Panasonic). The keypad includes a single button "Block" .....the phone remembers up to 150 blocked numbers.

That's funny, recently I was watching a report about how some escort services are fronts for at home prostitution just then my doorbell rang I got oddly excited but it was just UPS

Yeah: "call them anyway"...
I never got on any do-not-call lists, and never block numbers. They call you anyhow, and they fake their numbers at will...

I went to a big optometry outfit for new glasses and a dermatologist last year.
Now, they call and email (yeah I gave it to them) me to do surveys on how they did, and advertisements about new and exciting services they offer. I don't want to burn my bridges with them, I might need them again.
How exciting can new glasses and suspicious looking spots on your skin be?
This is besides all the BS calls that still come through.
I let all calls from numbers I don't know (or blocked ones) go to my machine. The vast majority never leave a message. When the phone is next to me, I've taken to connecting then hanging up. With their robocall computer setups, I'm wondering which response is better? (If one is better)
I got so many calls from a bail bondsman outfit looking for a guy (not me, or my name) at my house a few years back, I finally picked up and had conversations with them that I was not the guy, that the guy did not ever live here, and asked for the calls to stop. They didn't, so I picked up and told them about the past history and said if they kept calling I was going to drive out there and blow up their building. The owner called me right back in a big huff threatening to turn me in for threats. I explained the 60 calls I got, the clear answers I gave, I empathized with them being on the hook for a big bail bond for some scum bag felon, and told them I had been a federal prosecutor, and said my defense would be the insanity the incessant calling caused me. He was silent for a minute then apologized for the calls (which stopped).
I don't recommend threatening to blow people and buildings up, but I suspect they would still be calling if I didn't.

The spoofing is a real pain. I get 4-9 calls a week for various scams using either our local prefix or some town close by. Blocking the number will work for that number, but whoever is doing the spoofing use different numbers, so blocking won't work.
Not sure pressing "1" or what ever is a good idea, as some calls redirect your phone call to a number that charges your account. Just saying.

I get 2-3 times per week an odd number on my cell phone unrecognized no idea as a missed call. I have tried calling that same number back and do not get anyone says number does not exist, very odd.
pisses me off because I am at work and keeps ringing but no time to answer it to tell them off.

I just got another "local promotion" call yesterday, so I picked up and waited for someone to respond so could string these cockroaches along, but I think this guy got suspicious and hung up.
