agree, City ONLY. says top speed 60 mph but am sure under 200lb. rider. anyone 250 on up guessing 55 mph tops and uphill 50 mph is all.
If I lived in town ONLY which 95% of my riding is NOT, I would buy one. Has bigger frame than the same engine honda gromm and bigger tires for hwy. riding if need be, plus push button start NO turning of a key. Does lack storage though of most scooters such as my 250cc which has almost as much storage as my honda valkyrie interstate with top and side bags both - no joke. My underseat storage is bigger than my valk interstate top trunk on my 250cc scooter and I have a top trunk equaling easily one side bag plus 2 cloth bags strapped down on back seat nearly as big as the other valk interstate side bag and if need be, I have cloth saddlebags to strap on as well for additional storage. Funny as heck when I come out of a grocery store with 5-6 plastic bags of food and people look at me like HOW in the world is that all going to fit on that scoot...
I will stick with a good used 250cc scooter much cheaper than a new 125cc honda scoot though and mine has 19.8 hp vs. this 125cc honda having 9.9 hp and NOT able to race hardley davidsons either like i have done on the hwy. passing cycles doing 78 mph top speed.....

Honda Forza about 270 cc. Slightly used 2014s can be had for about 3 to 3.5 grand. Their earlier model Honda Reflexes are out there for about 2 grand in 250 cc and are laid out well and reliable. Kymco makes nice 250 cc scooters. Also Yamaha and Suzuki make nice 200 cc scooters. Absolutely stay away from any Chinese scooter as nothing but problems but they are cheap. Get what you pay for.

Kymco makes nice 250 cc scooters. Also Yamaha and Suzuki make nice 200 cc scooters. Absolutely stay away from any Chinese scooter as nothing but problems but they are cheap. Get what you pay for. Yep, I agree on what was said above. I have a 2008 kymco people S250 being liquid cooled, 249cc fires right up no need to let idle even if carburetor has a nice enricher fire up and go ASAP, larger 16 inch tires same size as a honda rebel cycle tires and cheaper. Very similar 250cc scoot is the honda reflex, another good one to get has taller windshield and honda quality but higher price than kymco's made in taiwan but my kymco is faster top speed than the honda reflex for some reason. I do not understand why anyone would want a 50-150cc scooter not hwy. capable when the used 250cc scooters are hwy. capable able to go 65 mph if need be easy enough and pass cars on hwy. if need be for only 300-500 bucks more in price usually used. Used 250cc scooters honda/kymco, etc. NO chinese junk can be had used well under 2 grand more like around 1500 bucks in good shape under say 10,000 miles and should last 30,000 miles or more. Yah, gas mpg is tops mid 60s vs. say 80-90 mpg for a 50-150cc scooter, but who cares 60 mpg is still very good and the 250cc scooters have at least a 2-2.5 gallon gas tank vs. the dinky scoots having only 1 to 1.5 gallon gas tank. I can go 120 miles between fill ups and I push my scoot pretty hard usually and by 100 or so miles, time to get off that harder seat anyways. Much past that 300cc range and scooters can get pretty pricey even used but have seen a few now and again say honda silverwing 500cc scoots go for around 2300 bucks or so even some higher mileage say 25000 miles on them for 2K. Another good one to consider is the suzuki burgmann 400cc or yamaha majesty (I think 400cc) for that 2-2500 range used. I just find the 250cc range scooters cheaper (good used one can be had for 1500) and does everything a 400cc on up scooter can do just not as fast is all without the extra around 500-1 grand price tag used. the furthest i have taken my 250cc scoot was 80 miles one way all hwy. miles and that is far enough for me, not meant to travel cross country on it. those are for the 500cc on up scoots being honda silverwing 500cc and suzuki burgmann 650cc being the cadillac of scoots. BMW makes a 650cc scoot as well probably the best but also the priciest by far. I have seen the Kymco 500cc scoot go for around 2K and near new as well lower mileage good deal but usually 2500 or so. I think Kymco now makes 300cc fuel injected scoots that have taken the place of their carbed 250cc scoots like I have but not bad priced either and zippier as well with a little more top end since have driven their 300cc scooter used at a Kymco dealer nearby 60 miles away and was nice not bad priced used lower mileage.

If I owned enough property and/or was out in the country enough, I'd like an ATV or a scooter or maybe a golf cart to putt around on.
My brother puts one on his home built 30' boat so when he and his wife go cruising on big rivers (they trailer to), they have something to throw ashore and go see things and get groceries. That's why my folks got a CT-70 when they came out.
Here in suburbia, I can't really use one.

That's a fact. Just go to Indiana - they are all over the place. In Indiana, it is only 50cc scooters. The reason they are everywhere is the operator does not need a valid license to operate a 50cc (or less) scooter on the road. Anyone with a suspended license ( e.g., OWI suspension) can get a cheap scooter and get to work, school, probation, etc. (As Mike said: "liquor sickle.") Several years ago, the Indiana legislature decided it should do something to regulate the "safe operation" of the scooters. The solution: require the scooters to have license plates ( i.e., pay a registration fee). The fee is around $50 per year. An operator without a valid license must also pass a written exam. There is no insurance required. [Footnote: the City of Indianapolis took the same approach with the small stand-on "park and go" scooters (Bird and Lime). Following a short ban on the scooters, the City reached and agreement where the scooter companies would pay a fee for each scooter and they were back in business. But this is way off topic.]

I did not get that connection. But it makes perfect sense.
We don't see too many up here (other than very local), traffic would make them hamburger in short order.

They can't use them on interstates here either... aren't all the roads near you "the Interstate"? -Mike

"liquor cycles" were pretty popular in NC as well, especially in rural counties (like where I lived). You would see them motoring off to wherever the rider needed to go in all kinds of weather (and I mean ALL kinds of weather).

I just got back from a nice 100 miles, blow-the-cobwebs-out ride. I only had a couple people cut me off; not bad at all. Yeehaw!

But this is way off topic.] very stupid NOT having to have insurance on even a 50cc scooter. I say if on the road and has an engine of any kind, insurance should be required at least liability. Here in WI a 50cc is illegal to run down the rural roads anything 55 mph speed limit and that is common sense. Not sure it is enforced, but should be since only 50cc scooter that I know of that will go over 40 mph is the Genuine Roughhouse 50cc 2-strokes mixing oil/gas and sound like a weedeater, but they do have more power and faster speeds than any 4 stroke 50cc scooter. Still not able to do 55 mph but able to keep up with city traffic mostly... I have driven a few 150cc scoots and top speed is 55 mph pushing 60 mph if the winds are right and going downhill that is. If lighter in weight, they may go 65 mph maybe? As for me and where I ride, the smallest SAFEST size engine with me doing rural hwy. roads mostly is a 250cc engine since able to pass people if need be and go over 65 mph. I get a kick out of passing old farts on hardley ableson's done it a few times on the scoot when they putz doing 55 mph. I pass anyone when safe to do so if driving under 60 mph in a 55 mph speed zone.

liquor sickle reminds me of my Dad's older drinking buddy when I was younger in the early 80s. He would drive a 50cc old scooter (like yamaha razz or something like that) some 20 miles all rural country roads 55mph speed limit drunker than a skunk (major alcoholic) to visit my dad and drink hard liquor and B.S. at our kitchen table. He was drunk when arrived and plastered when he left for home hardly able to walk much less drive a 50cc scooter top speed 30 mph. I guess if only doing 25-30 mph no helmet, etc. and he toppled over on it, good chance of surviving still? by the way, this scooter somewhat local was for sale late last year never sold an dhe said he would take 1500 for it am sure cash deal. https://madison.craigslist.org/mcy/d/freeport-yamaha-majesty-400-touring/6841613182.html400cc, yamaha quality, and in good shape newer tires with plenty of storage. Mileage is so-so though thus the lower price tag but should last 40-50000 miles or so, still plenty of life left in it since liquid cooled and hwy. capable with plenty of storage under seat and rear trunk. They are out there, just have to keep looking.

Ida know, my neighbor was killed on his liquor sickle when we were away at the first Johnson City Inzane... he was a good guy, wild as a young man, he seemed to be starting to straighten out...
