........explain to me, how gas can go from .98ltr / $3.71gal to 1.21ltr/ $4.58gal back down to 1.08ltr / $4.09gal in less than a week?  tickedoff

I always feel we are being ripped off all the time and I can't imagine what it is like for courier companies and the like to figure out delivery fees when gas prices are so unpredictable.  Roll Eyes

Looks like the same pricing system that is used in the USA.

Up fast down slow.

Wondering if those were lyrics from a song in 70's or 80's....lol

We are expecting our fuel to go to $1.52/L by Sun. The new Carbon Tax coming online, and locally fuel is low, so a good time to raise the price. Current price today is $1.47/L.

Across the border in WA, today the converted price is $0.93/L. I'll try to post Mon what it is there then.

I buy my fuel across the border, and pay the cheaper price. But I only travel 2 miles to work, and fill up once a month. I also buy a goodly amount of items online I can't get at home, and have mailed to just south of the border.

I really should bicycle ride or walk, but summer is coming.

I worked at a gas station when I was in high school, and we used to get a pricing report every day. We might get fuel delivered twice a week, but the price on the sign and at the pump could change daily. Just another artificial price increase. I mean, if you paid for the fuel at x per gallon, you should sell it at y per gallon to make your standard profit. It shouldn't jump all over the place for fuel you paid a fixed price for. Things may have changed since then, but I imagine that it's only got worse if anything.

Supply and demand.  Competition.  If people didn't pay it they couldn't charge it.

Speculation, world news, vacation planning (spring break, end of school year vacations, major holidays) are all reasons (read excuses) for gas price hikes.
They always claim a reason but the timing is always the same.

I use to buy my gas at kwik trip just down road from work so not out of my way.  They were the cheapest around next to Costco or Woodmans grocery store.  NOW,  lately they have been same or 5 cents higher per gallon than most other gas stations around.  I have no idea why though?  It was 2.499, next day 2.549, then back down next day to 2.489, go figure when all other stations stayed consistently last week at 2.499.  I cannot figure that one out.

If have kwik trip card,  after 15 visits buying anything gas or even a candy bar, drink, etc.  you get 1 visit on card and 15 visits get 5 cents off per gallon up to 30 gallons one time use.  My truck is 38 gallons so let it go down to near when fuel light comes on saves me 1.50 every month or so.  Since we drive 2 vehicles daily 70 miles each per day,  saving on gas is important to me.  They run specials like tomorrow due to st. patties day, stop and buy anything and get 15 visits so good for another 1.50 off 30 gallons of gas being 5 cents off for 30 gallons 1 time use.  They have other sale items with kwik trip card as well like deals on orange juice and milk, butter, etc. so worth getting.  Few weeks ago got free bagel and 25 cent hot dog among other good deals.  I figure if not out of the way, why not.

Also,  I use GAS BUDDY app weekly to search for cheapest gas around every 1-2 bucks saved weekly helps in the long run.

tman, just wait until the carbon tax kicks in.  It is supposed to jump up another 5-7 cents/L and that is just for gasoline.  Natural gas, electricity, food, etc. will jump as well.
Thank you Justin for ruining Canada.  A$$hole.

Or perhaps, lots of neither? Are we all going to park our bikes cars & trucks, leaving all the driving to public transportation and private cars & jets for the "more equal" animals?
