While I have the bags & mounts off I want to replace the rear pads and probably rebuild the caliper with new piston seals and boots. I can get a set of OEM for $41+tax from Suncoast Cycle in Odessa, but I've also run across a set of front and rear for much less but are carbon fiber. Being the tightwad I am, I'd like to save a few $$ but not at the expense of poor performance. The OEM type have always been good but the price difference is what caught my eye. I have two sets of new front pads but have no use for them, having already rebuilt the calipers a few months back and they don't work in the rear.

I believe the carbon fiber will eat away at the rotors faster. I use organic and my las set cost me 30 bucks for both front and rear. They wear out faster and are dirtier than OEM but worth it if is saves the rotors.

I saw those on there but don't know anything about them. I know some brands/types will wear the OEM rotor quite badly, don't want that and especially the rear due to the replacement process compared to the front. Is that brand any good, any info/experience on wear....both for the pads and the rotor?

I have used the sokbrake brand from eBay for years without any problem. They ate quiet and do not wear the rotors more than OEM pads. Probably less. I have also bought a set of the sixity brand that Britman recommended but have not tried them yet. I suspect that will be fine.

              John-I'll play devils advocate here for a Friend. There are some places to save money. I M H O brakes ain't an area to save money. When you absitivelyposolutely gotta stop these big gals of ours do you REALLY wanna save money on brake pads? Yeah-kinda what I wuz ponderin!   Lips Sealed RIDE SAFE.
