By that one, Canada at 169.7+ Trillion?? WTF!!
But then, without a pipeline, we can't get it to markets.

That 170B Canadian Reserve is what is recoverable by today's technology. There is a hell of a lot more down there!! It could(likely is) be the largest in the world. 2400 Billion Barrels down there, 233 Billion Recoverable.

It’s a crime that we import a single litre of oil into Canada. I’m all for free markets and less government regulation, but surely a country as big as ours, with such a small population shouldn’t be importing raw resources, be it oil or beef or whatever. Cars...sure. Motorcycles, tech, etc...sure. But oil...no bloody way.

The Foreign Environmentalist Funding to stop all that oil from getting to market is the Globalist Roadblock that Alberta may not be able to defeat without outside help.

Alberta could use 3 Keystone Pipelines for starters. The Canadian Liberals and American Democrats would set their hair on fire.

I would pay to see that Ya just can't convince the Lefties that Alberta is just trying to clean up the world's largest natural oil spill by removing it from the area.

The "problem" Canada (and the US) face on using their own oil is that is cheaper (even after transportation to North America) to import it rather than pump (or process, in the case of the oil sands / shales) our own. You also see this in the gold / silver mining in the Rockies - silver has to get to a certain price point before they can make money mining it, in the meantime, the mine owners run them as tourist destinations.

World oil consumption is forecast to be about 102 million barrels per day this year, about 1.76 million BPD more than 2018. That's less than 40 billion barrels per year. Based on those reserves numbers we have plenty left. Just a few years ago many thought we'd run out very quickly, but today few still believe that. And keep in mind these are just the 'proven reserves'. Other classifications, like 'probable reserves' may not be included in the numbers.

Ya, if Alberta could ship 10 million Barrels a day, our reserve would be gone in about 65 years

There has been studies done that oil is not a fossil fuel, but rather a renewable resource. Produced in the core of the earth and seeping up towards the crust. There have been several instances of wells that have been run dry and are now producing again. Could be true. If not, how many damn dinosaurs were there to make all this oil???

I've heard that, but haven't seen any details. Would be interesting to read some more. I doubt enough dinosaurs ever lived to produce a significant part of what we're drilling for today. Plants likely made a big contribution.

It definitely doesn't just seep up from the core of the planet, seeing as it's an organic compound, but it is renewable.... Kind of... In the 1970's, proven reserves said we would run out by 2000! New technology means more recoverable. We have oil for hundreds of years, if not thousands.

Plants likely made a big contribution. This is the abiotic oil theory and is of course hotly contested. I have heard about it for probably over 20 years now, usually from interviews on Coast to Coast AM. I think it was in 2001 one night while in Pennsylvania I was listening on the same show a guest who wrote a book called about peak oil and how the best days were over and dwindling supplies and wars would be fought for oil withen 15 years and yada yada yada. Man I was bummed, really bummed. However almost 20 years later this gent has been proved to be wrong. However he may be right some day.
