I know it's the tech forum and I apologize.   Smiley

They (ebay, yada) were selling one with a temp gauge in it (cheaper than OE).  It often leaked, so I'd avoid that one.

Also, one particular radiator cap chrome cover was known to make the OE cap leak when the set screw was cranked down.  I believe the Show Chrome/Big Bike Parts cover.  If the radiator neck lips are bent (like from a cover set screw), they can (very carefully) be straightened.

If the cap rubber is very hard (with no squeeze left in it), that may mean you need a new one.

I recall that a Honda Civic uses the same cap. Don’t recall specific years that fit. Bring the cap to any good auto store and ask.

Actually it's the thermostat that has an automotive equivalent.

Found it here: http://www.jkozloski.com/generic_parts.htm

Cool! I wasn't aware that there was an automotive equivalent to the rad cap.

Thanks!

If this proves to be true, whoever can update the generic parts list, should add it.

For more info for grins.....
I was digging though my parts drawer and I found a new cap (on the left) for my '90 Accord (180k miles on it) and for the halibut I pulled off the Accord cap and set them side by side.. not much difference. Tried the new one on the Valk and it fit/works fine.... I ran about 200 miles with it......

My OCD didnt like the looks of it though, so a check with Dennis Kirk and bought this one....its black and suits the bike better...

Ran another 100 miles and the DK one also works fine...
So add that to your Funk and Wagnalls

Yes but, the shape of it with those ugly wings would preclude this. Couldn’t do it.

It’s a Cobra part one was on the bike when I bough it but it wasn’t perfect. Big BF was selling this one on the classifieds a couple of years ago. I couldn’t resist

Is that a complete cap or a chrome cap cover?

It’s a cover for the OEM cap.

Those radiator grilles were made by two outfits.

Rattlebars was chrome.  Long gone.

xf6-custom.com is stainless   https://xf6custom.com/

I have one of each.  The chrome is easier to keep shiny.
