fuel pump for belly tank ,stop hydro lock, 86 petcock

My fuel pump for my belly tank needs to be replaced and I wanted to pickup a pump. I knew that they were Facet pumps that are readily available but there are a few things I didn't know that all may be interested in. R&M did their homework when they used the pump they picked, it has check valves and anti siphon valves so it makes the dreaded hydrolock a non issue. Most of the ones that you order dont have these valves and the part numbers are not usually listed when you want to order them. They just list the regular pumps in most places. You have to order these pumps specifically. Plus the correct pump is made by Facet/Purolator but there are some cheap Chinese made ones that not only dont have the valves but also have terrible service. The Facet pumps are really good pumps.
  
   Some have used the Danmark electric fuel cutoff and the petcock and some rebuild the petcock but you can use this pump and not have to worry about a electric cutoff or a petcock and will have the added boost in performance from using a fuel pump instead of just gravity feed also you can use a regular fuel filter so that there will be no more garbage going into the carbs. This pump when off stops the flow of fuel completely so there is no need of any thing else in the line to shut off fuel. With all the problems with the petcock and fuel system this to me is a really nice solution. The Facet number is 40178 Napa has them but under their number which if you are interested in I can give also.

I just wanted to thank R&M again for a good product and good engineering you impressed me once again with the choice of the pump not only with the construction of the tank. I'm not associated blah blah blah.

I tried using a fuel pump with the stock tank..would'nt work for me..now i have a trike so what i done was bolt a plate to the bolts that used to hold the kickstand. put a 3 psi pump on the plate. ran the fuel line down behind the engine threw the pump then up to the carbs..thought i'd remove any possibility of a hydrolock..well after starting my bike for the first time with this setup. i found that the fuel pump..even though it was only 3 psi kept over riding my floats and was flooding my cylinders while running.  so i bought a fuel pressure regulator and even that setup would'nt perform right. removed that setup and just went with an electric shutoff valve..that was 3 years ago and 50,000 miles ago..have yet to have a problem with this setup.

Shouldn't have been a problem I wonder if the needles were ok. This pump rating is 2 to 3.5.
