RJ, I might be buying an I/S and just put a 5 pc. set of Ultimate Bigboys on my newly aquired Standard and I KNOW they are comortable! I was hoping the front and rear would be interchangeable.  Cry

I think $1170.00 is enough for seats! I've heard a lot about Utopia. Does it work with an OEM?  I don't know much about Interstates but i would have thought  they would all come with cruise control. All the buttons on the lefT, is that for just radio  and cb? Is there a place to put a cd player? It looks like it was  Honda's answer the the Ultra classic but with less equipment

Though your mileage may vary, I have a 99 I/S with stock seats and Utopia backrest (You have to cut a bit, but it works just fine), and I'm fine with it. I'm 57; 275lbs at 6'. I rode to Toronto last summer, 4 days each way at 9-15 hours a day and the only discomfort I experienced was in my knees and ankles. I may add a second set of hi-way pegs, and eventually floorboards just to have more positions for moving my legs around.
For now the seat is fine, tho I will eventually supervalk the girl...

No cruise control, but you can get the Audiovox for under $200 delivered and there's a great tutorial on installation in Shoptalk (I'm putting mine in this spring). Also have a look at Fordmano's 'Multiple upgrade' thread. On page 4 he has some great pix on installing the Audiovox. http://www.valkyrieforum.com/bbs/index.php/topic,21439.0.html

There's an Aux setting on the sterio/CB control panel and a plug under the right side panel to plug any device with a Walkman type jack. I use it for my iPod, but I'm sure you could put a CD changer in the trunk or a bag and hook it up.

They fit, but looks funny - not worth the effort IMHO. Get Ultimate Seats.

They absolutely are interchangeable. (IS to Std-not the opposite)
A problem to overcome is the rear mount for the IS seat. It does not line up with the bolt hole in the fender (extends beyond the hole) and the IS rear mount bracket will need to be modified to fit or a new one fabbed.
Some here don't even bolt down the rear of the IS seat when used on a Std. That would not (did not) work for me.
An IS seat with Utopia backrest is very comfortable.

Thank

Phredvalk, I wished I'd known about the audiovox. I just got me Brakeaway cruise in the other day for about the same price. But if I'm not mistaken I think it's electronic which I'm a little leary of.

Heinno, That's just my luck! I'm wanting to take the Ultimates off my standard and put on the I/S. Cry

RJ How hard are they to modify?
Thanks

If you intend to keep the trunk mounted you can expect to do a lot of modification in order to get standard type seats mounted on an Interstate!

Yeah I talked to Des @ Ultimates and he said the drivers won't work and the back he didn't mention other than suggest I sell my new 5  pc. set and buy a set for the IS.

Ricky I see you have an I/S. If you have the stockers  are they comfortable? I read where people said they were very uncomfortable on long trips and others say the opposite.

If I buy this one, it will be for long trips cause the wife and I love to travel!  I've owned a lot of Honda and every stocker, especially my VTX felt like I was riding on a concrete block! Now stock Harleys weren't bad! Anyway I've tried about all the aftermarkets and Ultimate is my favorite by a landslide!

The stock IS seat is a one piece and is very comfortable. Better than the Std seats.

The front and center mount on the IS is the same as the front Std. But the gas tank is different so expect some conflict there.

The rear mount on the IS does use the same hole as the rear passenger seat(different bracket). The passenger seat uses a bracket for the front mount to the fender.

Suggestion see the diagrams at Honda Direct Line.

It's been so long I don't remember how the I/S seat compares to the standard set-up. These present seats are very comfortable, I have them covered in leather!

Cush is not good for long rides so I change to my Diamond seats for the long-un's. The firmer the better!

Absolutely incorrect!

The passenger seat will bolt right on.  Your rider's saddle for the Standard will only have a crinkle in the nose.  You can get rid of the crinkle by removing some padding in the nose,.

The passenger back rest (on the trunk) will obviously not match your Ultimate seats in appearance, but there is no functional conflict.  You may want to buy the Ultimate passenger backrest for the sake of appearance.

Going the other way (Interstate seat on a Standard) requires squinting really hard or otherwise attempting to ignore the appearance.
