YAY!! Two thoughts: You just can't beat a good chicken fried steak with the fixins! Keeping the politicians busy with stuff like this then they can do no harm! P.S. and you'll save armadillos this way!

OK....so is it chicken or is it steak? Or, since it's chicken fried steak does that mean the chickens are really talented? All joking aside, I'll go for it every time if it's available....that and SOS, done GI style.

Cool! Had CFS for dinner and didn't even realize the importance of today's date!
Father in law took us to a "Texas" steak house many years ago... In Maryland...
They put BROWN gravy on the CFS! *Shiver*
...and I didn't even bring any rope with me!

If memory serves me correctly, I sunk my toofs into a CFS for the 1st time in a little town in the Southern part of Mississippi. Seems like the town was Wiggins or something along that line. That was like 60 years ago, and I was a Buck Sgt in the USMC.
A rather LARGE Black lady was the cook, damn dat was mouth waterin good.
I don't recall EVER tasting another CFS as good as that one.

When i lived in east Texas(Garrison)with my first wife i was driving for Holly Farms. On U S 59 not to far north of Houston was a sorry excuse for a Union 76 truck stop. Had holes in the parking lot you could lose a semi in. The resturant on the other hand was known for their C F S. They were in a word-magnificent. Had the whole deal right-gravy made there-meat breaded there and they peeled their own taters. I can totally understand and agree why C F S is given this honor. To you folks that still live in Texas-take advantage of that very unique food you have available there. It truly is a Southern thang. RIDE SAFE.

The eggs on those taters makes me wana go to Cal. Never mind, I know how to cook. The Big Texan in Ammarillo has really good CFS. As an added bonus maybe you can watch some gluttonous big eyed fork-n-spoon hero try to get a free meal. Also if in Tucson the tTt truck stop has the twin. That would be 2 CFS,2eggs,2sausage/bacon,2 orders hash browns. BTW, gluttony IS my favorite deadly sin.

CFS that you remember decades later...... it was probably at Counts Restaurant, used to be in a converted Amoco station on Hwy 26, right in the middle of town..... unfortunately gone now, Mr. Count retired many years ago..... but Man, was it GOOD!
