You're a newbie so I'll forgive you, but this is about the 18th time this has been asked. DDT has well over 400,000 miles on his Valk and there are a few with 200,000 +. Ya gotta have well over 100,000 to even be considered as "seasoned". Get out there & start piling on the miles.  cooldude

Paxton, I notice some of your photos your wheels are black. Did you do that recently? Does it appear to be holding up? Have you changed any tires yet, since done and how does it hold up to that? I like it, looks sharp on a black Valk cooldude

Tundra;
IMHO, Black Wheels look good on most any color bike. I just did my Candy-Red VTX and I love it!
https://picasaweb.google.com/103917731019176896112/2002VTX1800R2ProgressiveBlingin?authkey=Gv1sRgCKmZuerz4aOYEw

On the Valk, I did it the day AFTER installing new tires back in May. Since, I've been through rain and mud, etc...  No pealing or bubbling...
They look just like the day I painted them with SEMI-GLOSS engine paint. A 30 minute (A-Z) rattle can job.

I did it as a color test before powder coating. As it turned out, I love the way they came out, so powder coating is out the window.

PREPARATION:
Wash, dry, clean your bike (OPTIONAL). Do not wash the bike for three days after painting the wheels.
Thereafter, wash and clean them with dish soap or the same you use for washing the bike. Never use abrasives like spray-wheel cleaner.

DO IT:
A. Jack up the bike. Trans in Neutral.
B. Using Clean rags and Acetone, (best rapid evaporation rate), thoroughly clean the wheels. Now, go have a room-temp glass of water.
Ready to paint in 5 minutes...
C. Paint from the inside out as you turn the wheel. Doing this would minimize over-spray to almost zero w/o-masking...
D. Clean off any over-spray on brake disks and such with Acetone. (DO not attempt to clean off any over-spray off the tires. Let it flake-off overtime).
Wait ten minutes before riding.
E. Picture Time (OPTIONAL).
F. Go ride hard! (OPTIONAL)

Did I mention that my Valk's Odometer reads 37,1XX?

I've got 86,000 so far. With regards to painting aluminum, I had some LaMonster risers that the chrome had pitted really bad. I sanded them down and just sprayed with Rustoleum satin black, figuring I would eventually have them powder-coated if I decided to keep them. They still look great a year later-I would not have thought the paint would stick that well...

A couple of miles from 34k,  Looks like I'll turn that over today since it stopped raining a day earlier than it was suppose to.  I've put around 3k on it since September when I bought it.

I've 166,000+ on my Standard.  Acquired in 2004 with 11,000.

I figure I'm in the top 150 or so.   Wink

Yep, all ones again last weekend.  Wink

But I'm a lightweight compared to others on the board.
Mileage may be slowing down a bit as I'm splitting riding time with the '99.

Might even {GASP!} put the '97 up for a while to give it a new paint job!  Shocked
I had let it go for 2 months a couple years ago when I had the hydrolock & took my time going through the carbs. But I had the Rocket 3 to keep me from missing it too bad.  Grin Still felt wonderful getting back in the Valkyrie saddle!  cooldude

A road trip Picture.......This is on the way home from a Daytona trip.  Daytona has acounted for almost 20,000 miles of 122,000 I have put on the girl
