Just received my new Baker Air Wings last Saturday. The deflectors were sent pre-assembled and all I had to do was install the bracket to the engine and then two screws to secure the deflectors to the brackets. The lower right side arm was 1/2 " shorter than the upper arm on that side and the two on the other side. On Monday I contacted Baker in Ohio and explained the problem. I was told that whomever assembled had probably grabbed an arm meant for another application. They were gracious enough to ship me the correct arm at no charge for it or the mailing cost and I received them today. Air Wings are installed with no other problems, no interference with the turn signals, look great to me and keep a lot of the wind off my legs. I ordered the dark tinted and think they look real sharp with the green of the bike and the smoked turn signal lens.

I too have had great customer service experiences with that company. I personally don't care for the looks, but the air wings are one of those things that, well, I don't care how they look, they work just too well not to have.

Besides tinting smoke/darker, did you get any special lettering or logo designed dragon engraved onto them as well?

Been thinking of going this route on my I/S all out with custom designed gold color etched dragon on the wings as well and maybe that one baker air wing company that can also do it in flames around the edges.  total cost around 300 bucks with the extras.

Have talked to a few I/S owners who have them though that they have cracked their I/S side pods around the bolt mounts and actually saw the crack on both of their I/S's in that area so know it is true.  Baker air wings denies, or should I say, has never heard of that happening before of course.

I had never heard of Baker until I got a Valk a month ago.  I ordered some and soon found out that I can still ride around in my shirtsleeves on a cool morning (40+) and stay fairly comfortable.  Simple design, great product!  cooldude

I chose to go with a set of fork lowers due to the look and they work great for the buffeting but when I read posts like yours I wonder if I did the right thing.

When I first got my Valk, I loved it, but my head was getting beat up, so I added a windshield, it was better, but now I was getting the buffeting badly, so I added fork lowers. Slightly better, but the buffeting, especially when wearing a full face helmet, was still pretty headache and nausea inducing, so I added the Baker's...

111,000 miles later, I'm still loving the lowers AND the Baker's working together...

I've never ridden a Valkyrie without Bakers. I had them installed by the dealer before taking delivery in July of '98. I also got the dark smoke to go with the black Valk and have been happy with the performance and appearance, though some don't care for the looks.
A cautionary word though; don't over tighten the pivot bolts or the screws that fasten the panels to the hardware. At first, I would adjust the angle of mine with my foot while riding, and being a slow learner I managed to crack the mounting holes in the panels(not all, but more than one). I live only about 50 miles from Baker, so I just rode over and bought the new panels that I needed. The owner was concerned that I had this issue and came out to the bike and checked things out. He said I had things snugged up too much, he adjusted them and told me to only adjust the angle with two hands while stopped to alleviate applying torque stress . I followed his advice and have had more than 10 years of trouble free riding with the Baker Air Wings since then.
Yes, they are good folks to deal with.

Hit a bird a couple times and broke the plastic.  replaced them with polished stainless steel, had a friend with a machine shopcut and bend them.  Buffed them with stainless polish.  They look lots better.  I have memphis shade fork wings.  Hoser

I have the clear and love them, one tip though make sure to frequently check the bolts that hold the arms to the uprights. I have lost a couple of nuts that worked loose.

I carry a few extra nuts and bolts for my Bakers. I also have a few extra plastic screws for the deflectors. FYI, you can get the chrome screw cover at any auto parts store. I find them in the license plate acc. cooldude
