42.5 MPG

Just drove to from Lakeland to Bradenton and back. 98 miles each way...going down I got 42.5 MPG! Unbelievable! I've had this machine for 14 years and never saw more than 34MPG and usually gets between the high 20/low 30's. I guess riding with ten bikes at 5MPH below the speed limit on empty, two Lane, phosphate country roads helps get better mileage than running 80-95 on those same roads as a lone bike. Came back alone after lunch, took a little trip on the Interstate then back onto some of the same roads.
Hahahahaha, don't think I'll be doing that again anytime soon.

definitely makes a difference if you keep it below 3000 rpm in 5th gear. Good to remember if you are ever out West somewhere and you see a sign that says next gas stop is 150 miles.

Agreed...
And I remember those kind of signs on I-10 riding from SoCal to Florida back in the 80's!
