I know the jokes about Goldwings, the matching riding suits/jackets/helmets and the like, but where did the connection to Dairy Queens come in and how did the Dairy Queen and Goldwing thing get started?

It just came about, just go through a small town that is rider orientated... Harleys are lined up outside the bar, and Goldwings have the DQ parking lot full.
It's just an observation that I have seen multiple times.

Plus I think you get a DQ gift card when you purchase a GW

A Harley riding friend of mine explained this to me. He says Wing Riders are soft. If you're going to ride a Harley and be cool then you HAVE to hang out at the local bar and to ride a Harley and to hang out at a bar you have to be tough. Wing riders are not tough (his words). He's a good friend and a great guy and said this joking. As for me, I like ice cream

had an ole friend (passed away now), owned many bikes over his long riding career, many of them Wings. When he got his Harley, he would always tell us we should ride his " MAN's " motorcycle and get one. I would challenge him to a race....never took me up on it though. Even having a "man's bike, he still loved to go eat his ice cream! Never got into the Harley posing thing, was the same ole carefree, jolly self until he died. One of the nicest guys I would ever know. Ken

Damn, I guess I need to go buy a Wing. I like DQ Blizzards. Tropical is my favorite, just in case anyone is headed that way. Haven't done the bar thing since my Marine Corps days. Learned then that there's always someone tougher, meaner and faster than the last jerk that messed with me so, I don't do that any longer.

I actually rode over to a gwrra meeting with a friend one time in Denver. they were busy planning a 250 mile ride to grand junction that Saturday, they had a block of rooms at the Hilton for $145.00 each meals at the hotel, lunch, dinner, breakfast sunday @ $150.00 per rider. they were riding over at 10AM Saturday, and riding back at 10AM sunday. drinks and horsduvers Saturday night were not included. I realized rather quickly I couldn't afford to run with this bunch, so I bought a valk and hang around with a much cheaper crowd. (and still get a good dairy queen run in once in a while)

All it takes is a little spark of motivation towards a DQ (see the Gold WIng in the midst) and all will be inclined to surrender to this genetically predisposed condition. Or someone screamed for ice cream and they all did too...

Over in Eminence Mo. there is a soft serve ice cream place-might have BEEN a D/Q or a T/F-but is now a mom and pop place. When ever I get over that way and they are open I have to get the half and half twist cone. When my brother and I left Asheville N C back in June we ate lunch at a D/Q up there SOMEWHERE! In fact last week a friend of mine had coupons for D/Q so we went. Even at 10 miles away I don't spend a lot of time hanging out there. But when dat ole ice cream urge hits-ALL bets are off!! RIDE SAFE.

A few years back my son was going to school at Texas A&M and we would go there and eat the chicken tenders with the white gravy. Got food poisoning from it and now every time I see a DQ I think about what happened. Also now being a diabetic ice cream is a no no for me. But I can see it does like to pull the flat 6 into the parking lot David

I was shocked at how clean it was, how nice the people were and how good my lunch (a salad with crispy chicken in it) was. -Mike
