Around 1pm I started up the police bike and took a nice
ride up to the goat trail  no ice   cooldude but tonite
the road will have spots where water comes off the sides of the mountain

Made a few passes and then stopped at the entrance
to Camp Smith to ask where the tank is

The guard told me that it is at the top of the mountain where
nobody but people at the base can see it

That sucks as it was a tourist site for the general population
after all but at least I now know where it is

There was not one other bike out  It was a nice day 35 degrees
nice stiff wind coming off the river   No speed appreciation awards in fact no troopers out at all

Hope y'all got some wind in today wherever you are

Bertha enjoy your new digs    I will miss you

Cant get the Greatful Dead song about Bertha out of my mind now

Got 45 miles in today, Not many but enough to rotate the fuel in the carbs and realign the smile. Even if no precip expected, they spray salt brine on all the bridges in case of frost.Had to pick my roads carefully.

You guys are riders. Temp at freezing here, little snow last night and salt on the roads. No riding for this guy for a few months.

I was out on my bicycle today and only did 15 miles checking out my guy panty hose. LOL  They are North Face brand, like a spandex  like material. I was impressed, 37 deg. and maybe 10 mile wind and stayed warm. I was just wearing, I guess thermo wear and cheap cotton sweat pants and hoodie. Was going to wear my ski mask hood, but it hasn't been very popular in the Metro Detroit area lately if you know what I mean.

I've got the Underarmor compression cold gear long johns, and boy they are industrial strength panty hose for men.  I can still wear (stretched out) 36s, but even ordering up one size, I can still only wear those things with the waistband below my belly.  Warm though.

Same here in Yorkville, IL. Got an hours worth in. It's the best therapy out there! Was about 38 when I set out. Did another 3 mile store run that took about 50 miles to complete. Funny how that seems to happen.

Well I still cant get that song outa my head so I figured why not youtube search it

badabing badaboom

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHbna2plitg

The Greatful Dead, you could lose concsiousness during a song
wake up a half hour later its still the same song in concert

Have seen them play over 4 hrs in Englishtown NJ  Wish I still had all my bootleg cassettes
Marshal Tucker opened, then Jethro Tull then the Dead

roll away the dew and ride

In another times forgotten space
Your eyes looked from your mother's face
Wallflower seed on the sand and stone
May the four winds blow you safely home

Roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew

I'll tell you where the four winds dwell
In Franklin's tower there hangs a bell
It can ring, turn night to day
It can ring like fire if you lose your way

Roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew

God save the child that rings that bell
It may have one good ring baby, you can't tell
One watch by night, one watch by day
If you get confused listen to the music play

Some come to laugh their past away
Some come to make it just one more day
Whichever way your pleasure tends
If you plant ice you're gonna harvest the wind

Roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew

I'll tell you where the four winds sleep
Like four lean hounds the lighthouse keep
Wildflower seed on the sand and wind
May the four winds blow you home again

Roll away the dew
Roll away, roll away the dew
Roll away the dew
You'd better roll away, roll away the dew

Just a thought, but it's probably because of the time of year it happens to be right now.

It's perfect weather for riding around here today, but the wife and I have been out all day and I bet I've only see a half dozen bikes out all day.

Folks are out Christmas shopping and other holiday type errands this time of year and not riding bikes.

Besides....people are driving like crap all around town today darting all over town looking for Christmas deals and filling those Christmas shopping lists and NOT paying attention to their driving.  Have seen several very close calls today.

I was reading this thread yesterday and wondered why I didn't I ride.  I felt disappointed in myself and downright ashamed that I didn't take advantage of the milder weather.  So today I made sure I got out.
The roads were wet, no wind, and some of the fog still was around yet. My thermometer said 30 degrees.
I knew I would go beyond the short ride to the other side of town to get something to eat so I dressed warm enough for a longer ride.   I "had" to accelerate to 80 mph so I could merge safely with traffic.
It felt sooooooo gooooood!!

Saw around 100 bikes in a little over 2 hours.

Cheers and Happy SAFE Holidays.

Can someone put some names to the faces in this picture? I recognize Mr. Schmidt's bike but couldn't pick him out of a crowd.

I wanted to go out for a ride today but when it started to get cold my battery took a total crap. Put a trickle charger on it and it showed a malfunction,  took it to autozone and their charger said bad battery............DONE.  The P/O left the receipt in the owners manual and it was an 8 year old wallmart battery, so I'm not too upset about that. I knew that there were going to be one or two freak days where it would be nice enough to ride if they hadn't put too much salt down. I jump started her and ran some stable into the carbs and put her to bed for the winter. I figured why worry about a battery over the winter, I'll just start off with a fresh one in the spring.

I rode today. Gorgeous day, about 60-65 and sunny and clear on this Sunday. Left Abita Springs, LA had lunch in Thibodeaux, LA and back home. Had a lot of fun riding LA-22 and all those sweeping curves. Didn't log the mileage but used a whole tank of fuel on my Interstate. 180-200 miles?
