Can anyone recommend a phone amp?  My dad's hearing  has been going downhill since around 1952-3
(Korea) He's gotten several sets of aids from the VA, but still has trouble on the phone. Been on the net, but there's nothing like good honest opinions from people you trust. I don't know many of you all first hand, But after a few years on this site I feel that your input has merit. Thanks

I take it you are not talking about hearing aids but rather an amplified land line phone. I would try the local phone company or any big box electronic store, A few years ago I purchashed one for my Mom that had three levels of volume control and big buttons, she loved it! HT

I got one several years ago for my parents. I think it is still in the house up north, but, can't remember brand, or where it came from. I know it made them much happier to talk on the phone. Theirs had big numbers as well. Wish I could tell you more. cooldude

I've got my mom living with me lately and she has a problem on the phone as well.  I have Panasonic cordless phones (got at Costco) and she uses the speaker phone function.  Yes, it's pretty loud on both ends, and bothers me when she is in the same room. I can hear the entire conversation even  when she is in the next room.....and my brothers can hear me fart from miles away when they are talking to her.

I think some of the issue is that the phone speaker is so small and very directional, and seniors might not have it over their ear opening and blocked by a lobe or other part of their ear.....and that is probably why speaker works for her.

Now....I need to find an in line ear phone amp for a head set so my TV volume isn't set to deafening volume levels for me.  I already installed a splitter and headset for her, which helps some but I need to add the in line amp for her before I ruin my ears from TV.
