These are a few of the songs I've gathered from various sites that are the favorites of surgeons, in no particular order.

1. Comfortably Numb    Pink Floyd
2. Smooth Operator      Sade
3. Fix You                    Cold Play
4. Staying Alive            Bee Gees
4. Unbreak My Heart     Toni Braxton

Songs that probably should not be played in the operating room.

1. Another One Bites the Dust    Queen
2. Everybody Hurts                    REM
3. Take My Breath Away             New Berlin
4. Scar Tissue                            Red Hot Chili Peppers
5. Live Like You Were Dying        Tim McGraw

Another one that prolly wouldn't be good to play in the OR... At least, not for the patients to hear...

Yeah, I think some of those were tongue in cheek. But I have read that music played in ORs has
many benefits by helping relaxation, concentration, etc of the surgical team. Also read about a few who liked Heavy Metal. That was not so good in creating calm. ;0

Depends on the person. I find Slayer, played very VERY loud to be most relaxing... I used to nap to South of Heaven or Reign in Blood blaring so loud you could hear it at the bottom of the street...

I will admit though, I would be a little... concerned... if I were being wheeled into the OR and I heard Reign in Blood playing...

I will say that we don't play music while the patient is brought in and going to sleep. That is quiet time.

Ok, I'm gonna give you that...but the important question is...."What do the fish think of that very, very loud music that's creating tidal waves in their tanks?

Free massage!

(Serious answer, I actually spent a LOT of money for devices to set up real waves in the aquarium anyway, wish I COULD do it just with music...  Few of these guys don't come cheap! http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/tunze-wavebox-6215.html )

A few years ago I was having a Colonoscopy. I was the first of the day so the doctor was selecting the music he wanted to listen to.

He asked me (knowing I wouldn't hear it anyway) what I wanted to listen to.

I said "anything but a CHA-CHA"!

Haha, yep...it might be more appropriate for firing up a football team before a game. In the OR, not sure it would create a calm, tranquil environment. Smiley
