Loved them back then, still do. A few weeks ago a fella brought by a Lighting that no one got running correctly. A couple hours later it running like it should. I've been looking for something over the past couple years to make a cafe runner out of.

Had a 500 Matchless, raced it for two years, totally bullet proof. Building a cafe racer at this time Suzuki GS650, brings back memories.

Great video, thanks for posting. My first bike was a BSA Gold Star, a 500 cc one lunger.

Thanks Paul. My first bike, a 1946 Matchless 500 cc single, rigid frame, was an early import from England. it still had the compression plate (lowered compression to 5.7, English petrol).
It also had the plate on the front fender for the license. New AJS, Matchless singles were going for 800 bucks. The HRD,s which I couldn't afford, were selling for over 2 grand.
The Flying M was totally reliable, always started with the impulse mag. I just didn't ride at night, Lucas.

First was a 305 Honda in 65, in 66 I bought a new Norton Atlas. T-boned a Pontiac at 50mph in 68. That was the end of riding until 93 when I went back to Hondas. I got a 89 GW.
