MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Federal Bureau of Investigation warned Memphis law enforcement agencies of an anonymous tip that threatens the I-40 Bridge.

According to FBI spokesman Joel Siskovic, "There is no actionable intelligence at this point. The FBI takes any information like this seriously and we insure that we share it immediately with our local and state law enforcement partners."

Many people in the Mid-South are questioning credibility of the threat.

“There are threats all the time, so I guess it just depends on if it goes through or not,” says Josh Johnson.

According to TDOT officials, close to 50,000 drivers travel the I-40 Mississippi Bridge each day. TDOT officials say they are prepared to follow any instructions given by the law enforcement agency in charge of the investigation.

“I think we need to know about these things, and then we decide what precautions need to be taken,” says Mitch Thompson.

The Memphis Police Department has been made aware of this threat.

I don't believe any creditable terrorist organization would pre-announce their target.

Most likely not waterboarded as we can not do dat no mo!  Info came after a dunkin donut and coffee!  And a few rounds of cumbya.  That bridge is busy 24/7. I got caught in a 2 hour shutdown of that bridge some years back as a climber threatened suicide.  NOT a bridge engineer and I have NO idea how many pounds/tons of explosives it would take to drop that bridge but lets say they succeed.  Dropping that bridge would put a knot in transportation like you would not believe. Lets hope and PRAY our intelligence agencies are better tuned in here than they were for 9/11. From the documentaries I've seen on blowing bridges it is not a simple or quick job. Even if they were to get the weapon in a semi wouldn't most of the explosive power go up and out? Course those believers are guided by allah and if they drink the right koolaid they will be bullet proof!  RIDE SAFE.

That could be devastating.  There are only a couple of bridges across the Mississippi for a lot of miles in either direction.
