Girlfriend and I already got tickets to see 'The Interview' tomorrow afternoon at Alamo drafthouse. I don't have too much expectations from this movie, the only reason we are going is to put the "F" back in Freedom!! But I sure as hell know I am going to get knackered with some top shelf frozen margaritas that will be offered to accompany this movie screening.

America......F**k Yeah!!!  Cheesy  Cheesy

Just finished watching it. Some parts are pretty dog gone funny. I can see why it would rankle their feathers. I think the
immortal Foghorn Leghorn pretty much covered it, " it's a joke, I say it's a joke son "

Having said that we need to pray for the people of North Korea on this eve of our Saviors birth. They suffer untold misery
every day at the hands of a raving lunatic. We are so blessed to live in this wonderful country where we have the freedom to
       watch this movie.

Although I think North Korea and the Taliban/ISIS group are the worst evils in this world right now,  I wonder how would the US President himself react if North Korea put out a movie (if they even have movie theatres over there that is) about killing him?

Just saying.

Sony is not stupid, they put out the movie and with all the free publicity, the comical Interview movie might be a money maker landslide because of all this special attention given to it.

For all his faults, Bush didn't bomb the UK when they did just that...

North Korea was NOT behind the Sony hack according to multiple security experts who discredit FBI findings and reveal that a studio insider named 'Lena' may be responsible.....

That's true to a point, but if not mistaken, not too many made for a current U.S. President depicting him in real LIVE time.   Usually, most movies have a made-up U.S. President, if not mistaken.

Never saw it, but was that movie about George Bush when he was in the White House still?

If it was the FBI vs. North Korea doing all this,  wouldn't surprise me one bit, our govt. is soooo screwed up nothing would surprise me what they do and why they do it.

We watched with the adult family members last night on Youtube with our TV ($6).  Funnier than I thought it would be, a couple of moments of adult only entertainment sections, creative script, etc.  It is in the mode of "Dumb and Dumber" though, so you have to be in the right mental mode for that kind of humor.

A couple things come to mind for me though surrounding the movie:

Is this concept of "Home View Release" the start of the beginning downfall of traditional brick and mortar movie theatres?  It was pretty comfortable watching it in our living room, pausing when we wanted to. It will be interesting to see the revenue numbers in a few months.

The movie depicted the self described "Supreme Leader" in a very derogatory way.  I'm sure deserved, but I can see why they are not happy with the release.  The better way would have been to use innuendo towards him and the nation but never name, then let people draw their own conclusions.

That being said, the media exposure to this may drive this movie into the underground for a long life. (Rocky Horror Picture Show concept?)

Funny flick all things considered. 3.5 out of 5 stars for me.

Some how, some people, think this is some kind of a successful accomplishment. The moment we folded, we lost. Anything that happens beyond this point is meaningless.  What it amounts to is, some little kid just beat the crap out of the big school bully. So our reputation now is getting ziltched, piece by piece. They should have shown it right from the get go, then it would have been a successful stand off. This news is just not between us, this is global news.

Saw this yesterday and all shows were completely sold out. Had it not for the controversy surrounding this movie, I wouldn't even have given a second thought of seeing this movie, let alone at the theaters. Man did they "F" up the Supreme Leader. Although you will end up loosing some grey matter by the end of the movie, overall it was a pretty funny movie.

Bottomline, the only reason why we went to see it was to put the "F" in Freedom.

Is it worth seeing again? Hell No!!!

"We" didn't lose crap (notice the single O in lose).  Stupid movie.  I wouldn't have gone to see it with or without the threats by the North Koreans.

I wonder if Sony had to pay the North Koreans for the publicity they contributed.

In all honesty this movie would have probably bombed and made a couple of millions if it had been released as per schedule without any of the stupid controversies. Sony should be thanking N.K. profusely for the added publicity they gave this movie and send Kim Jong a big gift basket from Bath & Body Works and some Katy Perry CD's.

Thought about going to see this movie for its redeeming social value...

Then I thought about going to see it to make a political statement...

Decided there was some paint around here that I needed to watch dry.

Downloading it legitimately just isn't doable with my D- rated bandwidth.  And it won't appear in my netflicks disc swap program for months. However I knew it would turn up in the P2P networks pretty quick with all the controversy and it being officially streamed Xmas eve.  I note there are 47371 "seeders" on one of the many torrents trackers right now.  That's at least one order of magnitude more than the most I have seen for any hot digital item in years. (Not that I ever acquire copyrighted content that way.)  And that for a mediocre movie - but lotsa folks want to see it in spite of the reviews.  Flipping Kim off, I suppose.  There are WAY more viewers of the movie than there ever would have been had Kim kept his yap shut.  Akin to Obummer being the best gun salesman of all time.

And if you use such services, I highly recommend you also use a torrent proxying service, such as http://btguard.com/ . They make for some relatively cheap insurance against being spotted... (And if you're the paranoid type, you can actually pay a little more and have an encrypted tunnel between your computer and their protected servers outside the USA and have ALL your internet traffic routed through them.)

Another one called TorrentPrivacy does the same thing - has servers in Holland and Sweden.  BTW, if you toggle between servers, you'll find that a dearth of trackers in one location, may not have a shortage in another.  IOW, change the server, you might go up in "seeders" a lot - or find ones that don't limit your bandwidth.

Not that I ever use such services of course.

I dunno, I keep thinking of the movie "Wag the Dog"

I mean one of the leading electronics firms in the world has their movie division make a flick and they get hacked and seemingly, despite being one of the leading manufacturers of electronics and one would think have the most savvy tech guys on the planet, are completely stumped. Really?
The US Government backs up the accusation that N. Korea is responsible.

Ever look at N. Korea on Google maps? Hardly any traffic on the roads. Satellite imagery at night has the country in perpetual black out. Like no one paid their light bill.

I can't really see them, as a country, being that capable of such an effort or even caring about a stupid movie.

The Dog is-a waggin.

Why couldn't it be that the little a$$hat instigator, that nobody in school likes, blindsided the cool kid who defends others from the a$$hat's antics?

Correct me if I am wrong, but there is something I am not understanding. Now they are saying that the hacking is an inside job, whether it is true or not, the investigation is still going on. Right! The thing I don't understand, is why is BO sanctioning the N Korea over a movie, and useless threat, that they don't even know who really made it at this point. I mean come on, it amounts to stick and stones, it just frivolous words. It gives me the impression that BO is trying to pick a fight, over something as stupid as a movie threat. Two mental cases.
