On July 25th and 26th, the world championship series is coming to West Greenwich, RI. at a place called "Steppingstone Ranch"

I took a trip down to see some of the NE riders last fall there and it was cool to watch.

Some of the cliffs and rocks groups they ride over are pretty amazing.

The World Champs should be even better.

Bring a lunch and some bug juice and wear good hiking boots.

I love Trials. Had a Sherpa and Pursang, ran them for years. Just recently got rid of the Pursang.

Yeah, it's alot of fun with a little gasoline.  Wish I had the balance required.

I owned a Honda TL125 back in the day and that bike WAS fun.

I rode trials in the early 70's.  Had an OSSA Plonker and MAR.  Also purchased a Honda TL125 for the Susan just after we married in '73.  Trials in the early days in this country was challenging, but today, I find the rider skills to be amazing.  I have attended some events put on by the UMTA (Upper Midwest Trials Association), an organization of which I was a founding member.

I practiced lots of trials-like riding in my dirt bike days.  Used to go thru parking lots and go over the double deadman concrete stoppers, doing constant tight 180s all down long rows of them without putting a foot down.

But what you see today is not only far superior bikes, but riders who are world class gymnasts in combination with great bikes.

I don't have any personal experience with it but have seen demos at bike shows that were just STUNNING.  They would set up a faux mountain sort of set and go over it in a way that I couldn't do on foot.  I'd love to have that in my experience - though when I was in my prime - 20's - trials wasn't anything like it is now, if it existed in any form.

We watched them for hours in Lukenbach, TX this past October.  It was an awesome thing to watch.  There were 5 different classes of riders on the tracks at the same time.  There were different paths through the obstacles for each class.
There were even some small kids on electric trials bikes.  They were just trying to make it around the course on the easiest path, but they were very cool to watch.

I don't have the skill set tho....

I started flat tracking and got hurt a few times. When I drove over a friend I figured it was time to do something else. Trials seemed more conservative and safer. Like everything, it has changed over the decades.
