I've wanted the original Honda Valkyrie Promotional Banner for dealers since I first saw it. Thanks to Disco, his perseverance and skills with a Samsung I've started the process.

I used Disco's photographic work to recreate a replica as true to the original as possible! Using Disco's image I've spent about 22 hours reconstructing the piece using all new elements.

I think I'm getting close!

The first two vinyl 10 ft x 4 ft banner test prints (if they work) will be hanging in my Man-cave and shipped to Dave.

I've protected the replica art with watermarks as I've grown tired of drawing pieces than having some troll using my art to build stuff and sell on eBay, Rat Bast*&ds.

Here's where the art is so far.

I'll let you know how the projects gets on...

I would love to have that with the ORIGINAL BEE on it the way the Dealer banners were.
Original had a 97 Bee with the Orange pin stripe not silver.

The photo Disco took was of an original dealer banner, maybe his camera didn't catch the nuance of the colors. Here's the photo I worked from matching the bike best I could. Can you give me a close up on the pin stripe on you Bee?

You make a great point, funny that. But as you can see from the picture there aren't any banners in pristine condition to be found. It took me hours to get the scratches and folds just outta the bike, replaced the background (which I'm not done with) and researched, found and matched all the fonts except for the Valkyrie word which I redrew from scratch. Because I shrunk the photo to post it here you can't see all the defects but there were a bunch.

So the watermarks are to protect my restoration from someone copying it off the board and reselling it on eBay. if Honda released the banner for sale I'd be first in line to get my hands on one!

I like to think of myself as a preservationist picking away and restoring a Michelangelo for future generations. For authenticity I did it laying on my back!

Oz, I sent you an email of a close pic of my stock tank with the original orange pinstripe. Hope this gets me a chance to purchase one. You CAN'T limit this to a 2 production.  Evil

I wonder if Honda made the poster with a preproduction bike. If you open Joes post "I've had this saved in favorites" the poster in that article also has grey pinstripes. But down the article is a pic of the bike with orange pinstripe.

I just looked at my poster and cardbroard Valkryie and they both have a silver pin stripe. Didn't the poster and cardbroard cutout before the bike?

I'm using a combination of vector and bitmap. To have the fonts keep their sharp edges if printed at 10 feet I needed to vectorize them. Also on the bike where some parts were "muddy" looking I used a vector program to recreate or sharpen those aspects

Fabulous!!  I hope you produce them both at full size and half size (that'd be 5x2, wouldn't it?)

My pleasure, oZ.   Cool   You are the one doing all the work.  I'm just happy to be able to contribute.

Ever since I saw the banner at my first InZane, hanging behind the front desk in Johnson City at IZ VIII, I was on the lookout.  It took me several years, but I finally got lucky on the Classifieds in '11.

Re pinstripe color, the date on the banner is 1996 and the stripe is silver, so my money is on pre-production bike.

Plus, everyone knows the bumblebees with silver pinstripes are faster...   Roll Eyes   Or maybe I'm just partial.   Wink

BTW, it looks great!

One more shout out to both Disco and Oz (and all involved) for making this happen.  I have also admired the banner since it was originally released almost 20 years ago.  Plus, I was recently lucky enough to acquire a pristine Bumble Bee Standard.   I was beyond excited to discover folks here putting out a reproduction banner - a really quality piece!   My banner arrived the other day and I am absolutely thrilled.

I know Oz has "ridden" off into the sunset (sort of), but his efforts continue to be appreciated.  You guys are something else.

Best to all!

They will make nice stable (garage) mates:
