Nice read Joe, I bought my first Valkyrie in 1997. It was the red and white standard. Sure wish I would have kept that one.

Nice, and it's all still true too. I'd been considering a new bike, then took mine out for a spin last Friday. Rode a buds HD ($30 grand I imagine) and a 650 V Strom on that ride. The HD really made me appreciate my Valk. The V Strom was a ball  and would be a great dirt road, short trip bike that would encourage fast driving awards nearly as much as the Valk does I think.

But man, the sun was shining brighter on the two Valks as far as I was concerned.

Thanks for the link Joe. I remember when they asked for some pics for an article they were writing. Never read it or even knew they used any of mine.  cooldude

Thanks Joe, an excellent read.
My first and only Valkyrie was a 1997 bought in 1996.  I traded in an ST1100 for it as the ST was putting my hands to sleep and I knew that the Valk wouldn't.  I was never disappointed with the Valk and only sold it because of the weight and my knees. It was ,and is, a smooth running powerful cruiser.

Today, the Vstrom makes up for some of the attributes that I lost when I sold the Valk, but again, I made a good choice for the second time in a row.  The Valk and this VStrom will stand out as the two nicest bikes that I have owned.

I can see and understand why you kept that.
All that it talked about are still true today.
    Thanks Joe.

Thanks Joe. I need to show this to a few select riding buddies to "illuminate" their minds.

He mentioned one of the many things that still impress me about this ride.  coolsmiley How that weight SEEMS to disappear when you let the clutch out!  cooldude I've put over 64000 miles on her since I've owned her-or vice versa-and she STILL makes me grin!  Wink And I still love the questions and the looks when I let them know how old she is!  laugh GOOD article-thanks Joe! RIDE SAFE.
