my 99 Valk

Salem, Oregon

« on: January 30, 2015, 08:48:41 AM »

The weather turned exceptionally sunny and warm (50's) yesterday so I took a little ride, it seemed a lot of others decided the same, as there were a great many bikes out and about. Some where along the way it struck me there were no Valks. anywhere to be seen, in fact in the 25 plus years of living and riding in the Salem Oregon area I do not recall actually seeing one, of course I was not in the habit of looking for that particular bike, until I purchased mine, but since Valks. are so distinctive one would thing I would have accidentally run across one, but to my recollection I have not done so. I have checked the member section of the website and see there are several in the area and hopefully I will run into (not literally of course) some of them around the area, also would like to hear from any of those and maybe get together for some riding in the future.

Hi Jess: I am sure there are many everywhere through out the US but as most I see a bike and give a wave and a nod and mostly keep my eyes on the road not paying much attention to exactly what type of bike it is. since yesterday I will be making an effort to identify if they are, one of us, or not and I am sure they will now begin to appear. I have had this happen before as soon I buy a new car they seem to be every where, so as then I am sure I will now begin to see Valks all over the place.s

I've been on a couple of large-125-150 M/Cs-rides here and on every one only ever seen one other Valkyrie. P G R mission couple years ago in Springfield Mo. over 300 M/Cs and again only one other Valkyrie. I can pull into an area with a bunch of M/Cs there and I may have the only Valkyrie the folks riding other machines KNOW what a Valkyrie is.  Wink Thing I like the most-goin fer a ride and NOT meeting my M/C at every stop or in the curves.  cooldude Want to see a LOT of Valkyries? Go to I-15 in Spearfish in June.  cooldude RIDE SAFE.

These bikes are of myth and legend....I will tell you, once you start looking, you will see nothing else and will be excited to see another knowing how rare a sightin actually is....

as I was told a long time ago...welcome to the madness... cooldude

I can have a day ride in my hometown of Clinton in The Great State Of Tennessee and have 8 plus Valkyrie's show-up for the ride. I drive for a living 2,500 to 3,000 miles per week and can spot a Valkyrie 2 miles away.

Yeah you hardly see any fellow Valkers around and then out in the middle of nowhere -- WHAM There they are. My bike in foreground. This at a gas station outside Rocky Mountain Nat. Park. Couple guys from the Omaha area. This back in 2013

As you are standing outside a store or a gas station, maybe you've noticed, you can 'hear'
a Valkyrie before you see it.

No other bike has 'quite' the sound of a Valkyrie.

I see a lot of Valkyries because I 'hear' them first.

Have owned a Valk since late June 2011. Have ridden with
PGR for 5 years. I have stated several times that when there is a ride you can get a quick count of bikes by looking for Valks. 1 in 100 bikes will be a Valk. This has worked at several PGR missions and several charity rides.. HAHA Welcome to the madness!!! cooldude

In our area, Klamath Basin, there are 3 Valks.  Mine and two others.   One rider never leaves town and the other works all the time.  So mine is the only one out and about.   I Went for two rides last week (we are have unseasonably warm temps - like 15 degrees above normal).  The one on Sunday I saw lots of bikes out, some even more than 20 miles outside of town.  Had a group of sport bikes go pass me on a 35 mph curve heading out.  All but 2 of the 12 were taking the curve like Smokin' Joe.   Almost dragging their knees.  Glad they were heading the other way.   Went out yesterday for a short 2 hour ride,  only saw one bike away from town, but most of the bike riders have to work (really enjoy being retired)

Not many Valk come thru this part of the state, but I am always on the look out.  Lots of Hd, few Wings, and some sport bikes.    Most of them are parked this time of year, but since we have had two week of great temps, they are making the most of it.
