I started plowing at 11:00 pm last night and just got done. I had 26 inches in my driveway and a drift next to my pickup that was 3.5 feet. The ice storm we had made plowing some drives and parking lots a PIA to say the least and took longer to clean up. We've had a good winter so far just hope it stays that way? I used to love to plow 25 years ago now it is just work. Nice pooch.

Looks a little better now, I cheated and used a snow blower. Sue called me when she got to work and said that there were cars stuck everywhere.

Since I am liid up with my shoulder replacement , my wife took over the snowblower duties. Our neighbor helps as I did a remodel and stairs for him this summer. My wife is a real trouper and does not shy away from work. She also made a huge pot of ham-tomatoe bean soup

I sincerely appreciate the pics and the reminder as to why I moved to Kentucky. Used to live about 30 miles south of Lake Erie. I know some folks enjoy snow, not me. Never again.

What's that white stuff all over the ground? It's that stuff that when Texas gets a half of an inch of it on the ground everyone runs into each other.

Am impressed you got that much sun to melt all that snow to bare concrete already and the roof of the garage having some snow on it is now almost all gone. It must have gotten above 30 degrees today in your area to melt that much snow.
I have drifts every year 3-4' tall even with 8" of snow if the wind is blowing. Nothing in my backyard to block the wind besides my house. Every year we also get alongside our house in what I call the 'wind tunnel' between our 2 houses a 5' tall drift ROCK solid enough I can stand on it no problems being 280lbs. Just in our 8-9" of snow we got on Sunday, with the high winds over 20 mph, pushing 30 at times, in between the 2 houses is now over 3' tall. I have to shovel a path thru that crap to get to the backyard as well which sucks. My ATV snowplow won't get thru it since is like concrete due to the high winds. I've been tempted a few years though to attempt to drive on top of that 4-5' drift and see if 1,000 lbs. total will not sink in, but if it did, I would be pissed since would have to dig it out taking over 2 hours.
I cannot imagine getting 20" or more of snow in one downfall with HIGH winds. Parts of our driveway and yard would be well over 6' tall in drifts easily.
I don't mind snow, it is the darn wind that sucks.

Thats just as bad as the snow! Snow is almost NEVER the issue since hardly EVER get over 20" of snow in one downfall which anything less than that can drive thru no problems. It is the sustained high winds of 15-30 mph, as this topic is about, that makes the snow suck creating 3-6' high drifts of snow. I'll take the snow, JUST snow, anyday over 105 degree temps.

Got some more last night, they said 1", my a$$ 1", what do weather men measure with, more like 3. That's OK!! Got to get out there before the sun comes out, its light in the morning, just getting my daily exercise. Trying to keep this old buzzard healthy, during the winter time. Stinking ground hog stuck it to us, so we have 6 more weeks of this.

I'm thinking closer to 8 weeks, but don't want to think about it. 2 months seems longer than just 8 weeks to me. I agree, exercise via shoveling is better than not getting any exercise in the winter I guess as long as we don't overdue it and have a heart attack? I know I have caught myself a few times each winter taking a breather catching my breath between heavy snow shovel loads so as to not kick the bucket. Same here, said 1-1.5", more like 3" as well. but was the light, fluffy variety.

High today: 59 degrees, not a speck of snow in the valley and took a little ride just to circulate the fluids. Where you say? Why out on the far western side of the great divide in Colorful Colorado. 100 miles as the crows fly, they're staging the World Cup at Vail; out here we're tannin'. Beat's the hell out of workin', eh?
